I posted a lot of threads about hyper engines but since most of you here have past through hyper engines on your way to the top class i would like to know a few things(upgrades) that will give this hyper a new "name"(more competitive)!!
I know about the carb on the H8p so the O.S. 20E carb from the RG engine is the BEST!!
-what about a head that will lower those high temps and will it work as told...?
-which pipe will work best on this engine and will give power in all rpms...?
-which air filter will fit the hypers pipe and is best for off road...?(mines needs cleaning every time)
Can you post the fuel economy on these engines...?
Mine goes for around 8-9 mins, rich, and temps around 230-240(70 ambient).

Well... I am running an 8-Port with an O.S. 20E Carb, RB Air Filter and 086 One-piece pipe... I love this setup! The carb makes the 8-port much easyier to tune!

I was going to say jack up the 8 port and put a novarossi under it, but you beat me to it. Sort of.

Honestly the Hyper isn't that good of a race engine like others. Sure a new car can help, but it doesn't have the bottom end or mid range like other engines. You're better of leaving it as a beater engine and find something else like a OS .21 RZ-G, RB S5, P5, etc.

Step-1 run the 8-port engine until it's dead
Step-2 buy a good engine like a Nova Rossi
Step-3 live happily ever after

Seriously if you really wanna get your engine to run hard this is what you do.
Vented Fly wheel aluminium, bergonzoni make an awesome one !!
13 t Clutch bell with 1.1 springs
Rossi carb
nova race pro head ( your gonna need it )
Short header + 086 pipe ( novarossi )
30 % nitro 11 to 12 % synthetic
Cut .8 MM from the bottom lip of the exhaust port
Cut .3 mm from the top
Grind out your header lip to be flush to avoid any extraneous current.
Cut 1.2 mm from right side of inlet port on crank ( smoothe over left side )
Rout and smooth tear drop on crank
sharpen leading edge of crank counter to 35 Deg
Cut 2 notches into front trailing edge on crank approx 3.5 mm in width
All ceramic front and rear bearings or hybrid ( will need it cranks over heat in Hypers.. )
MC 59 plug
champfer bottom edge on sleeve infront of front port...
this set up should give you about 85% of the power of a stock P5
and cost about twice as much but it would be fun !! BTW the engine as set up here with care should last you 1.5 to 2 gallons ..

MM LMAO
you're going to spend all that on an engine that will only last 2-3 gallons tops instead of saving the money for a better motor that will last 7-8 gallons
I know the water spins down the bowl the other way down under but the math doesnt work backwards to,,, does it?

Well, after this and after that i will never ask anything about the Hyper 8 port...
WHY do they make it after all if it's that bad???
OK for me being a new in the hobby it's a good starter engine (not "good" but it helps learn about tuning-A LOT).
The thing is i don't want to pay $250-$300 to get a new engine since the races are only among friends and not a championship, that's why i asked for O.S. RG,SH .21,Team Trinity 521 as well as the STS d21b dragon, something competitive and tuneable at low price!
Now i know everyone here wants his engine to be the best, BUT from what you've seen or tried up to now can you classify these 4 engines??(Don't want to here about P5,RB,Picco-OUT OF BUDJET!!!!!!!!)

The OS RG for pure price is a good motor holds a tune and great low end good for small tracks. I just bought a sportswerks 21 same as SH 21, a freind has one and I was impresses by how well it ran. It was easy to tune and ran 210 to 220 all day and probably better top end then the RG 21. If you're not going to do any organized racing there's a lot of good cheap big blocks out there also.

the RG is great value ! have a look at the picco range of motors , well made and run great ! lookin at between 150 to 220 for one of those.
The hyper engines are ok, they wear quickly and the carbs have probs, i guess they make them like that so people have to replace parts more often..

Nah. It's just people don't break them in right and so they bite back. This is not a hobby for the impatient.
