I am still heavily researching cause I am totally new to 1-8th buggies and want to make a good purchase. I am not deciding on performance I want a buggy with relatively good initial cost- to- out of box performance and durability and parts prices/availability is huge.
I have had the same rc10GT for 8 years but it has gone through phases and is now a FT.
But I have noticed that Kyosho mp-5s and mp-6's are prob obsolete cause the 7.5 and now 777 are out and the parts aren't interchangeable.
Same problem with the Mugen, I bet the x4 parts are hard to come by.
Given the track records of Kyosho and Mugen in this class, which buggy - the 777 or MBX-5 - will likely be replaced and become obsolete the soonest?
I plan on rockin the same chassis for at least 3 years...I can't keep droppin a grand every 2 years!

the MBX5 has been with us about a year longer than the 777 so you could be wrong there
Kyosho will probably release a different "edition" of the 777 incorporating any running changes they make, the MP7.5 had 3 different Kanai editions before the model was replaced completely!
if you want the newest of the new then it has to be the TTR S3 as that is the new kid on the block & the car everybody is spanking their monkey over right now

so far I have seen you be an expert on 1/8th in this thread (what cars, when and the differences of a top spec race car), advise someone what car to get, and you creme de la creme, the thread where YOU ask for links and advice what buggy you should buy because you have decided you would like to get into 1/8th...
So lets get a final answer, are you an expert or are you a newbie???

i'm not saying it aint!
what i am saying is that the prospec is the MBX5 with all the alloy goodies on it!
it is not a new buggy thats design is fundamentally only a few months old!
i have an MBX5 with all the goodies on & i know how long i've had it, and i also know how many other cars have been released since then as i have a couple of them too!!
i'm just trying to clarify a point that the prospec is not a new MBX5 because it has only recently been released in the US!
in Europe we had the MBX5 Option about a year before the prospec & thats just the MBX5 with every option that was available at that time, basically everything except the bolt in hingepins, alloy rear uprights & the one piece engine mount!
all parts that have since been released!
its still the oldest design out of the "Top" buggys out there at the moment!

its just the point i was trying to make all along
i do however think that the MBX6 being here by the end of the year is a little far fetched[:-]
but then Grandma is know for his eccentricities
