I think the first sticky the MODS should post should read like this " USE THE SEARCH BUTTON, 110% YOUR QUESTIONS HAVE BOTH BEEN ASKED AND ANSWERED IN FULL DETAIL OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!"

I have spent a good bit of time cleaning up the posts in this thread because there are legitimate concerns on both sides of the issue. When you post, take a minute to read the statement above the edit box.

Please resist the urge to curse, flame, degrade, insult or embarrass someone in your post. We encourage the free flow of your ideas, but believe that they can be communicated (and received) much more effectively if you keep things civil. If you have to vent, take it offline. We carefully monitor posts and will ban individuals who engage in offensive conduct within the forums. Thanks. (RCU Policies)

[sm=bananahead.gif]And I repeat:

ORIGINAL: Acs_guitars

This site does have a wealth of information and it is for that reason that Searching is the first step to getting an answer.......
It is just annoying as a long time member, to keep seeing the exact same questions over and over, and over again... and as I have before, I simply stop coming to the forums for a few months and RCU loses me as a knowledgable contributor. I am sure others have felt and done the same. There is nothing wrong with newbie's, we were all one once, but there is a need to direct them to search for an imediate answer instead of starting a new old topic thread.......
Just thought I'd repeat my opinion and what I feel is a valid point. Thanks Again!!

Honestly, how hard is it to just skip those threads? Why are the people so in favour of do a search first afraid to answer that question? This forum is for everyone, not just people who refuse to ignore those threads.

Lightfoot, sorry for my previous post.

The problem I have with this is.... I do skip those threads unless it is one that I can offer advice for. It is just that as the same things keep coming up in the form of a new thread every few days, I tend to get bored and annoyed with the forums so I simply stop coming.... No where worth contributing because the info is already there. I have a huge knowledge of RC and have no problem at all helping people out, but the first step to finding any answer on or off the forums is to search for it. Simply put..... Just because a thread is a week or two old doesn't mean it is outdated. Now if it is a month or two old, by all means ask the same questions again. I honestly don't care.... If the exact same problems keep back in the form of a new thread, I will once again stop using the forums for a while.... No sweat off my back. But honestly, IMO, if all the knowledgable people do this, then RCU will go down hill really quick and then the newbies will have no use for the forums either. Again.... Just my .02

Peace-Out, ACE [sm=thumbup.gif] [sm=stupid.gif]

In all honesty, if everyone just did a search, the forum would die as there would be no new posts. Its teh new threads, whether repeat or not, is what keeps any forum alive.

Here is an example, just a made up example;

TTR S3, search method example- Thread about what setup works, pretty soon every setup is tried, and people just search that topic and do not add. We only see new TTR S3 threads when new parts come out, but again, they die as people just search.

TTR S3, current example, noob example if you will. - Threads start, with one coming out as the main one. When it starts to slow down,. someone who didnt do a search started another one. That either sparks the old one to start up again, or the new one takes over. This continues until the buggy is not popular anymore.

With the first example, the forum is very quiet, almost like reading a text based website.

With the second example, the forum is alive, tips, arguments, new products, the whole package.

Now I want you to ask yourself, especially you as you said you bore easily, which forum will you visit more? If you said the first one just google for articles as forums are not for you.

I dont visit dead forums, as that is no fun. When I see last post was two weeks ago, I go here where there is always somethine new.

Another key thing about new and repeat posts is even with a repost there is always something a bit different and new. Kinda like when someone remakes a song or movie. We are kinda complain about them, but we still buy the CD or DVD, as it is different enough to keep our interest.

You see Daniel Son, if you look at the big picture, I was a newbie 6 months ago and thanks to the help from you guys, I myself pass the information to other newbies so It's just gets passed on. You only could be a newbie for so long, all of you guys and girls where newbies before, so come on give them a break, and remember "Wax On" and "Wax Off"

Obviously you dont understand forum ettiquette at all....

The orignal TTR S3 thread would now be 10 pages long and a real resource for every TTR-S3 driver if forum ettiquette was followed and everybody added to the same thread...

Yeah its alive, alive with the same question asked 15-20 times a week, in a different thread, and all the good threads, with useful info that shouldn't need repeating is now 50 pages into this forum, the search function brings up 25 threads instead of 1 or 2 and you have to wade thru all those threads to see if its worth posting your question..

If we had a 777 Thread, and S3 thread a Hobao/Ofna Thread, and X-Ray thread ad nauseum, we would find things and stay much more uptodate, but no, lets have it yourway, unwieldy, repetitive, perfect for n00b's to build a post count and appear to be experts...

Yeah, that sounds like a great idea...

Oh wait, we already have that....

Like many, I am now posting more in other forums that A. Are better managed B.Are easier to stay upto date with C. Dont have to sift thru piles of waffle before I find a useful comment... Its a community, you get out what you put in.... volume of garbage in, volume of garbage out...

But if you love the..... oooh ten new threads to read - when you come to RCU, I guess you's is all happy

Just an idea.. like put an 8th scale chit chat room and a 8th scale tech room.. that way if you want facts and stuff go to the tech section, and delete all non tech... and if you want chit chat - go to that section.. just my thoughts..

This forum is going downhill faster than the Jamaican bobsleigh team...isn't it time a sticky was made with at least the two following subjects....?

1) Forum rules...DO A SEARCH or DIE PAINFULLY (or at least get a harsh flaming) before posting a new topic and other general forum tips...every forum on the internet has this as a sticky...the number of 'which buggy' threads in the last two months is getting well out of hand...

2) How fast do they go? I've written a nice long detailed post in another [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_2805845/tm.htm]recent thread[/link] so you don't have any work to do, just copy paste it and I won't have to flame any more noobs, for saying things like 'how fast is the hyper 7', 'how fast is the mayhem', and other dumb questions which they could answer for themselves if they knew the first thing about the hobby.

Please, do SOMETHING! Other forum regulars, please say something if you agree with me...
I think that is what keeps this site going!

Arguing is a part of every forum, show me one without it.

Oh give me a home, where the Buffalo roam, and I'll show you a house full of s---.

Anyway, I give up, you guys win. It blows my mind that you guys cannot just ignore threads.

The funny thing is that the Mayhem people can do it the proper way and have one good thread where everybody that's interested in that buggy can obtain lots of information.

Maybe they should make stickies, like a Mugen thread then a Mayhem and Kyosho, so when people go the forum they can just view there vehicle specific thread! I created a Mugen MBX5 / Prospec thread but if no one responds in 8 hours it's get pushed to the back and people just post a new topic when they should just go to the thread I started!

All I can say is that the immaturity of some members of RCU has me ready to simply find another RC forum to post on. The effect of the forums getting this way, I feel, is because everything is RTR.... But that is a whole other conversation. All I ask is that people search first before starting a new thread... THE END. If you are not satisfied with the results of the search; ie: Info is old or doesn't answer to your satisfaction; Then by all means post. I enjoy helping new people learn the hobby, but I also know that a stagnet forum as has been created is not good for those of us with experience. I agree with the idea of a separate TECH area of the buggy forums. And I would even agree to take the TECH forum into division by buggy brand. Anyway... I am done posting to this thread. I will try to get ahold of a few of the Moderators myself to see if the whole TECH section is really feasable. [sm=bananahead.gif] Catch you later! - - - ACE

I'd have to say that this site lacks sticky threads. Well, apart from free hosting ones. Know its been said before, but it would be better to sticky some of the decent threads such as the buggy pics, Mayhem one etc, rather than one for posting pics and videos.

Exactly! That what I said before, and SKYLINEGT went ahead and created some specific threads and people are starting to fill them up! I created a MBX5/Pospec thread a month ago and it's do quite well! If only it was a sticky and it didn't get buried when someone doesn't respond in a day

Okay everyone. I think the point has been made and this topic has reached it's conclusion.

Bottom line is that, Yes, all newcomers should research the forums before asking a question, but the reality is that just isn't going to happen everytime. Remember that we were all newbies once too. Show some courtesy to the new members, and if the continue to post repetitive threads, simply let them know that the topic has already been discussed at length provide them with a link to the other threads.
