Default MODERATORS, PLEASE READ...

This forum is going downhill faster than the Jamaican bobsleigh team...isn't it time a sticky was made with at least the two following subjects....?

1) Forum rules...DO A SEARCH or DIE PAINFULLY (or at least get a harsh flaming) before posting a new topic and other general forum tips...every forum on the internet has this as a sticky...the number of 'which buggy' threads in the last two months is getting well out of hand...

2) How fast do they go? I've written a nice long detailed post in another [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_2805845/tm.htm]recent thread[/link] so you don't have any work to do, just copy paste it and I won't have to flame any more noobs, for saying things like 'how fast is the hyper 7', 'how fast is the mayhem', and other dumb questions which they could answer for themselves if they knew the first thing about the hobby.

Please, do SOMETHING! Other forum regulars, please say something if you agree with me...

Just relax a little bit. Who cares if someone posts some regular crap like that? Just don't read it or respond if you have a problem with it. Why does it matter? That's like saying a show on TV should be censored instead of you just changing the channel.

i have never understood why people in this forum feel the need to belittle others. and like justin said, if you don't want to read it, don't click on it.

One of the biggest problems with this site is.........

Members dont read other members threads as a lot end up off topic so creating an unanswered question.
To make a sticky on this subject would just create more sticky's for other makes and models etc etc

One thing to remember is......USE THE SEARCH BUTTON......it is your friend.

This site gets 1000's of new members every week so you will always find newb questions, we all like this hobby and most of us do try to help out the newb's as much as possible because we all have to start somewhere.

My guess is that if Foxy got his buggy instead of still being waiting (3 months!) then he would get in a much better mood and wouldn't get that mad about the newbie-questions.

But I must admit that sometimes the questions asked makes you wonder how old people are and why they don't try to find out anything by themselves.

And a "sticky" with an explanation of the search-function and an encouragement to use it and to do some research couldn't be that harmful.

It would be leaving the forum as-is... it would just add a sticky at the top directing Newbies, and everyone else, to search. This site does have a wealth of information and it is for that reason that Searching is the first step to getting an answer. I look at it in the form of wasted Bandwidth for RCU. It is just annoying as a long time member, to keep seeing the exact same questions over and over, and over again... and as I have before, I simply stop coming to the forums for a few months and RCU loses me as a knowledgable contributor. I am sure others have felt and done the same. There is nothing wrong with newbie's, we were all one once, but there is a need to direct them to search for an imediate answer instead of starting a new old topic thread. Anyhoo, that's just my two cents. Thanks for reading!

but one problem with on thread on a single topic is that the thread turn into a 10-20 page topic, then it takes two or three days to catch up on it and thats if the info you need is in that thread. I see why somebody would just make a new post to get there ? answered or somebody else who nows where there answer lies on the board.

There is a simple solution to the problem. Dont post on those threads and then they fall to the wayside. It really dosnt make sense to complain about those threads if your going to post on them and keep them at the top. Just ignore them and they go away.

Foxy,

Read and answer only the forums that meet your needs, I will answer all the others including the ones asking how fast and which buggy is better.

What a great way you have come up with to scare people off the hobby, yes, the ones that you say no zero about it. We all start that way. I doubt you knew anything about RC the first time you saw one.

Tell me. How is it different to not go into an electric section of this forum, and not going into a thread you hate so much? It isnt. What if I am a NOOB and search the best truggy, and I find a thread that says the "Ofna Dominator can walk the walk" and go away thinking that the Dom is still the Shiznit?

If somebody wants to submit a comprehensive FAQ for me to post at the top here that answers the frequently asked questions (FAQ) I will be happy to do so.

Format should be:

Question: How fast .....

Answer: These models can go...

Do every question/answer combo like that. do it in an email, pm or thread and I'll get it up here as a sticky and FAQ tagged thread.

Fair enough, I was having a bad day, but I stand by what I said. There seems to be a roughly 50-50 split on opinion, so I'll stay quiet for now...

Nobody said that people should do a search and accept the info they find...especially if it's out of date. What is getting irritating is when there are three topics on the front page all about the same thing, and it's happened a lot lately, you must have noticed. I am always happy to give people the benefit of my experience and research, as long as they show that they are at least prepared to do a bit of the legwork for themselves...e.g. A 'good' noob (as I was once, a long time ago), would open with something like...Hi evry1, I've done a search and it seems that the best buggy for me would be the Hyper PBS 'cos I like the fact that it has a starter box and a .21 engine, and I have about $450 to spend, does anyone have any other suggestions...?' Just an example, of course I don't expect everyone to be perfect, but a little bit of exercised common sense would be nice...

Not at all, many experienced contributors have left RCU because of the endless bilge about 1/8th buggies on this forum...

The same question about which buggy, regularly appears on the same page about 3-4 times, they dont even read the subjects let alone use the search function...

foxy42,
All what you say has validity,
But this forum is a newbie form,,,with a handfull of guys that have some knowledge and are willing to help the new guys out. If you find fault with this set up, don't partisipate. Why you come the the forums and let the questions get you upset is beond me,, It is what it is. If you don't like it don't read the forums.

I'd have to say I only read 5-10% of the threads started in about 4 sub forums, because there are plenty of guys jumping in to help the newbies with these repetitive questions, I don't feel the need to read or reply to every one. Sitting here complaining that a newbies asks the same question as other newbies doesn't make the newbies feel welcome. Poilitely advising the newbies to use the search feature is cool, but getting upset that they don't is just wasted energy, just skip it.

Ask away Newbies, that's what this Forum is here for

Why would experienced racers leave because of repeat posts? Just ignore those ones, and only read the others, its easy to do. Kinda like I do when I am all fingers as foxy cleopatra put it for an argument.
