go 1/8th scale the cost isnt that much more and you have a whole lot more choices of car to get....as far as i know timya is the only one who makes a 1/10th nitro but im not sure mayby its the only one ive ever seen......anyway when it comes to 4 wheel drive buggies nothing beats the 1/8th scale for bang for the buck

The best!?
There is no limit really but a top of the line car with a great motor and radio + other tools and equipment can easily run you $1500. That's starting from scratch.

You will not find a good new rtr buggy for 300 besides the SHO. Don't even bother looking

I'm new to the sport as you can probably tell from reading my posts, however I bought the Ofna 9.5 Violator. The only thing about it is if you get into big events I know you have to start changing the entire buggy around nearly from ground up to make it ROAR Legal for ROAR events of course. I didn't buy my buggy for that, I bought it b/c of what it offered...330mm stance, larger fuel tank, king pen suspension, etc. My cousin bought himself the Ofna Jammin buggy and my Violator can keep up with it on the straights, but that thing is the trick. Cost less than 500 bucks and he came in second place at an event with it straight out of the box, of course with different springs, radio, and steering servo...but other than that it was bone stock. I'd say get the Jammin, I would if I were to do it all over again...but the Mayhems are awesome too, I looked into those right before I bought my first buggy 7 months ago. The choice of buggies is endless.

Not really. If you get a used on, beware, the engines can be effed up like mine.

that's a used on for a bit over your budget, but includes a starter box. That' thing will rock[8D]
