I thought you were looking at the Jammin X1. That's about as good as you can get in your price range. The Sportwerks Mayhem looks pretty impressisve. I have been hearing some good things about the Cen Matrix.

The CEN Matrix would be something i would consider. I read up on all the buggies I could afford for awhile and kept coming back to the matrix based on its features and its price.

It can be had RTR with an MX3 radio for $400 shipped NIB on ebay.

They also offer an ARR version which you build yourself for $290 I think.

I have a Matrix too. ITs a very solid vehicle. Promising performance and excellent durability. Loving it. I pay $450 for mine. dont regert it... it will definitely outperfom the GS or any RTR out there

Look......i know some guys might not agree with this to much , and maybe some will. I have bought the new buggies and paid for all the hop-ups and got them running really with the cost of alot of $$$. I HAVE however searched around on Ebay and have found some awesome deals! I have bought two of my kani 3's off of Ebay that we're in awesome shape! I waited until i found one that looked very clean , hardly used and for a good price. You can get one with all the hop ups already on it for about 1/2 the price or LESS! You don't have to get a kanai , or 777 or any kind of a kyosho , just pick out the brand and type you want and be patient and wait for a great deal. The last Kanai 3 i bought off there was about 4 months ago. It had about 3 scratches on the bottom of the chassis and all the plastics looked brand new on the car. It had a FULL SET of racer's edge hop up parts from front and rear knuckels , shock towers , chassis braces..the entire full pro package. It also came with a new two peice "fioroni" center diff housing which alone is about $130.00.

With the cost of the buggy brand new , it would of cost me probably between $400.00 - $500.00 , the racers edge pro package it'self is $399.00 and a center fironi diff housing is $130.00. i got about $200.00 in spare parts like arms , k-factory hinge pin set , fuel tank and a bunch of other stuff.

all in all , the buggy to buy brand new (which it nearly was) would of cost me close to about $1000.00 to build that rolling chassis. i picked it up on ebay for $320.00 !! Yeah it's an older model than the 777 series , but some guys still prefer to drive the K3 versions.

I think if you spend the time on Ebay checking it out , and buy from a seller who has a ton of positive feedback , shipping price is good...you can't go wrong. before i buy one online , i ask the seller to send more pics if the ones on ebay aren't that good. I look at everything like a warn out chassis , scratched up or "dulled" plastic parts and things like that.

Just giving you another option.............

i too am looking at getting into the buggy scene after starting out with electrics and the stadium maxx. i've done about all the mods i want to do with my maxx. how good are the buggies for around 350. what are some decent ones for that price considering i have a couple of extra jr650 servos. will these buggies in this price range hold up better then my modded maxx??? i have the os .18 engine and blew out my tranny and diffs.

Thats true that you can't race the stock engine in the matrix, but at the club level that probably won't be a problem but I would check with the track director first.

Out here, they had a rule for the race series that if you were running the stock engine that came with the buggy, it was legal. You just couldn't put in some aftermarket .26 or whatever engine.

I would say the Matrix for the money is a pretty good deal. If you don't need motor, electronics, etc. they do have an ARR kit for around 290 you can purchase. For me, I figure if you can get the vehicle for 400 shipped. Sell the radio and engine, you probably work out better that way. The servos stock also have alot of torque for the money, 144oz with .18 transit.

As for durability versus a modded maxx I am not sure. It really depends on how much trouble you are having with your maxx. I would say that based on what I read, most of the 1/8 scale buggies seem to take abuse well. Only one I heard anything bad about plastics wise was the Hot Bodies buggies, but that may have just been that particular person.

You can race the stock Matrix engine in the club leve. I did it all the time when i just bought it. My matrix have no problem beating the Jamming with .21 race engine. I would lost on the straight but i can get it back around the corners. Matrix has way better air control and cornering ability then any buggy in ther market. Trust me.
