Default shock trouble

i'm having some trouble with my shocks....i rebuilt them by filling with 45 wt oil, letting the air bubbles out, putting the cap half way on, and compressing the shock while tightening the rest of the way. one of my shocks rebounds fully to the full extended position and one just stays where you compress it to. both have same size pistons/holes/oil and move freely and are sealed well. which one is working right and how do i fix the other one? thanks for any help

sounds like the one that rebounds has air in it. The shocks should relatively stay in the position that you put it in.

hm thats weird. i wonder why some people say they should rebound and some say it should stay where u leave it. anyway, the shocks i got aren't even what they are supposed to be...just buoght them off ebay and the shock bodies lok similar but are smaller in diameter so normal hyper 7 hock pistons don't fit...and theyre a lot shorter than my other shocks that i have...can anyone tell me what shocks these are? theyre supposed to be hyper 7's but theyre not the same as the hyper shocks i have.

heres a link to the suction that i bought

in the oil shocks for rc cars the springs rebound the shocks . These shocks should not rebound with the springs off , if do there is air in the shocks.

There is no air in the shocks you just have to much oil in the shock thats rebounding. I get it all the time just loosen the cap and bleed a little more oil out and the problem will be solved. I usually keep a tiny bit of rebound in them just so you know its full of oil and there is no air.

Edit: I have no idea what those shocks are. The purple shock towers really throw me off because I don't know of any of the higher end buggies that has purple shock towers.

If there is too much oil in the shocks they won`t fully compress. A shock with air in it will compress and rebound.

You can hear it when oil is in a shock and I get non in mine but they still do it. It doesn't need to be perfect anyway with these 1/8 buggies you really wont notice the difference just make sure it isn't to out of wack or sloppy. 1/10 stadium truck is a different story.

the shock tower and all other parts are for a hyper 7...i don't know which version of the hyper 7 it's for...i only wanted the shocks and the cvd'sthe rest is just going to sit in a baggie. actually the only thing i'm gunna use from those shocks now are the shafts, i'll just use them on my stock hyper 7 shocks. it just kinda sucks to have bought shocks and not have them be what they were supposed to be...the shocks i got were for a ofna mbx which isn't the same length as the hyper 7...but oh well at least i've got one full set now. thanks everyone

Whats up Mjs.

Leave about 1/4 of a inch of space from the oil to the top of your shock body. Make sure there is no air under the shock piston. Move it up and down several times..... Watch for air bubbles. Then stick the cap on. You should be good to go. Like the other guys said...rebound with no spring is a bad sign. lets try this again......
