low priced? look at OFNA's... (oh f**k not again) a good rtr buggy would be a Mayhem, or maybe a hyper 7... its hard to say... how much do you want to spend, and what are you going to do? race or bash or both?

You might want to wait and save a bit more cash, so you can get a buggy worth your time..

Like I've said so many times before the drive tran in the cen is trash. Lots of drag (we haven't even figured out why yet even after going over every part of the drive tran) and it wears out in no time. Unless you want to upgrade the drive tran after a month of weekend only running then the matrix is a great handling and a tough buggy. The jammins a good buggy but like with all ofnas you need to upgrade the electronics if you get their RTRs.

If you want a kit get the hyper 7 TQ kit on tower for $200. Then buy a starterbox, engine, electronics, diff and shock oil.
If you want an RTR get the mayhem... best electronics and engine out of any RTR on the market that you never need to upgrade either untill they wear out.
You'll be spending about $500-600 if you get one of these choices but you'll be driving them more then you will be working on them unlike the others.

Maybe you are doing something wrong THe drivetrain is very smooth on mind. Nothing wrong with it. its pretty solid and definitely better than the OFNA. Part wears out but its acceptable to me. Check out my detail experience in CEN forum.

If you want cheap one, buy a OFNA Ultra Low comp or the SHO but you will regert it.... Gurantee

I've been racing 1/8 buggy for about 2 years and a buddy of mine has been for about 6 years. Hes had 9 different buggies (mostly ofna, but hes had 2 kyoshos and this matrix) and the cen matrix drive tran is TRASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is running the RB concept S7 engine (which someone on the cen forums said was his reason for wearing out drive tran parts) and hes gone through 3 different sets rear and center diff cups along with two spur gears. We know these buggies better then we know the back of our hands and the Matrix RTR's drive tran is nothing short of junk and thats all there is to it. Its a great buggy like I said before it handles nice and everything else seems to be great quality besides the drive tran. Not to mention how tight the bearings fit in the steering knuckles... he broke one and had a hell of a time getting the original bearings out and when he tried to put new bearings into the new knuckle it fit so tight it made the bearing tighten up and start to bind. I don't know if this is the case for their kit but it sure as hell is for the RTR. You can deny that all you want but this is personal exprience and I am no newbie to this hobby.

let me ask you.do you own a sho or know someone who does?i do.a good buggy.not the best but definitely good to start with.no problems with the drivetrain either on the sho.hmmm, matter of fact the only problems i have had have been due to poor driving skills.not FACTORY parts problems.

YOu just soudn really St*** when you made up **** like that. PE teacher.... come on now.

Anyways... I am not doubting about using the kyosho diff part as its possible since pretty much all top OFNA drivers is running Kyosho shocks with Kyosho diff... inlcuidng Kortz and Greg... even Hara from HB does too.

Stop by the track and look at their car.... lol.....I was at the Silverstate...

I have been racing for 20 years...the drivertrain wears out.. but its acceptable to me.. i didnt say its perfect, the best and indestrutable.

We have been working with CEN for 3 years now. We started long before they released the Matrix. I stop by and pick up parts every other day. I never heard or seen a PE teacher there or anyone that can potentially be one...

I know almost all of their drivers too. They really only have like less than 10. I know Anderw is running the stock Diff. He even let me play with his car. ITs dialed.

Back to the main subject, the drivetrain is not bad.. you just need to dial it in. The spur wears out a little too fast, fixed it with CNC one and done deal.

Just one point that I need to make. The matrix is a good buggy but you need to upgrade the spur gear and drive cups almost right out of the box... like I said my friend went through 3 diff cups very quickly while I still have the originals in my MP777 that I've had for a year and they aren't even half worn. The matrix is really the only buggy that I know of with drive tran wear like this and my only question is why doesn't it just come with a CNC spur gear and better drive cups in the first place? If your going to bash and do light racing your better off just getting a mayhem and not worry about parts wearing out quickly or upgrading anything to soon. If I was choosing my first buggy I sure as hell wouldn't get an RTR with a problem like that especially with something that can get pretty costly quick like these drive tran components.

I'd love to see Cen fix that minor problem because its a great buggy but it is a big enough problem to turn off a lot of people from getting the buggy. The guy who ownes the local track doesn't even touch his anymore because he doesn't feel like screwing with the drive cups again. You can literally see wear on them after the very first tank of usage on some new cups.
