Hey all,
I have 1 gallon through my X1 FTE and I started to think about maintenance schedules. I was wondering how often you rebuild/replace the following items.
Shocks – replace oils
Rebuild (replace O rings etc)
Diffs - replace oils
Rebuild (replace gears and o rings)
Clutch - replace shoes
Flywheel
Endbell and bearings
I know that it will vary depending on what how hard and often you race, but general guideline would be helpful. I have already replaced the diff oils one to clear out any metal shards that may have collected during breakin. Any consumables like the fiber brake dics will obviously be replaced as needed, as will motor rebuilds. End links, ball caps, etc will also be replaced as needed.
I love my X1 and I am just trying to keep the car as tight as possible without going overboard.
Thanks
John

i replace the bushing at the bottom of the shock about once every 16 race days, also replace shock oil at the same time. ive been running the same aluminum clutch shoes on one motor for over a year, they have no sign of wear. i replace CB bearings once every 3 race days, and clutch springs about every 10. to my knowledge flywheels never wear out. the rest of the stuff you mentioned i would replace as it wears out. but one of my cars i have been racing 2 days a week for over a year and havn't worn any of those items yet.

I only race with friends at a backyard track, so I am probably not as meticulous as others. My schedule:
- Refill and rebuild the shocks when they leak (often)
- Refill and rebuild the diffs when they feel gritty (except center Torsen, lube frequently)
- Replace any bearings that feel gritty
- Shim parts when they get slop, or replace them if shimming won't help
- Clean the air filter every day of driving, replace it when it de-forms, or otherwise doesn't seem like new after washing
- Replace clutch components when the car doesn't accelerate properly
- Change fuel line when it gets discolored (clean fuel filters then too)
- Adjust brakes according to conditions (fronts never lock, rears at half trigger throw)
