Default dyno testing

Well, I was just wondering wether it's imperative. I was reading in a magazine that it is always best to get your engines professionally run in. Is that the case?? Or does it really not matter?? If not, are there any "pro" tricks that anyone uses to make it perform better/longer lifespan??

Cheers, Byron

There are numerous break in procedures and I think I have tried them all. Other then setting and idle tanks of fuel I do no see much if any difference between them. I go pretty much by the manufactures recommendations.

depending on the engine and cost i would get it pre run in. i wouldn't send off a $100 3.3, or even a nova, but for something like a rody c6 or a tuned novarossi on-road i could see doing it.

Yeah thats fair, I think it wouldn't really matter much anyway, I've broken in the other 2 so I shouldn't have too many problems. Just wondering is all.

IMO a "professional" run in is a waste. I have run in about 20 or 30 engine and have never had a problem. I have also used differing techniques and to be honest I can't see any difference. As 46u said, run it in per the instructions and you be fine. Just try not to over or underheat your engine during break in. Having said that I overheated the engine in my nitro hammer during break in (LSN almost closed from the factory and I didn't check) and out of the three hammers in my area mine is the fastest. Even beats a friends with a tuned pipe.
