Default 8ight Owners: Quick Question...

Just picked up my 8ight last night at the local hobby show. I was going there to buy some tires for the REVO ended up making a great deal on the 8ight that I couldn't pass up.

Here's my question, all my tools are metric and before I start building her I would like to get my hands on a good set of hex drivers for it. Can any 8ight owner please give me the run down of all the hex head sizes so I know what to look for in a set of SAE hex drivers? I looked in the manual and could not find anything. I know it comes with a set of allens but I hate using those keys.

Thanks in advance.

BTW does anyone know of a good baseline setup sheet for the 8ight or should I just go with what they suggest in the manual?

the tools All The Way suggested are great; i use them everyday doing repairs in a hobby shop and they are great. as far as a set up goes start with stock and then adjust from there....its a good starting point.

I think the box stock setup is fine. Just run it stock then tweak on the setup. It is sensitive to adjustments and you can get it out of wack pretty easy... I found that out the hard way [:'(]. If you change anything I would use some slightly higher shock oil (between 40 and 50 weight) and it will keep the buggy more stable. Two people at the local track are using 50f- and 40r and like it. Our track was even pretty bumpy but the suspension was too soft and felt kind of sloppy especially when the track is wet. I am using the 35 weight shock oil but my lower shock position is on the outside... it firmed it up a lot and actually a little to much for me. So I'll be raising my shock oil too before the next time I go out and moving the shocks back to the inside on the arms.

If you want more steering the ackerman is the first thing to change. It helped out a lot on our tight track with a lot of hair-pin corners when going to the short ackerman.

Are those the sizes of the all the bolts in the kit? In other words, if I pick up a set with those sizes I have all the hex drivers I need to complete the kit?

How was the hobby show? I've missed it three years in a row now because something always comes up.

don't worry about it. The people running the show nowadays aren't doing a good job. if you are into RC's there was only 5-8 booths that would strike your attention. Really it would be a dissapointment. I am lucky cause ?I was able to get a nice price on the 8ight, so it was worth it for me. Had I not, I would have been dissapointed. It's not like 10 years back were the hobby show was at the Automotive Building, downtown and it was an RC haven.
