Ok, just purchased a brand new Hobao Hyper 8 RTR
with my saving's, but we cannot get it to start, doing everything the instuctions say to start it, we still triumphed with utter failer,
has anyone got one of these? is there a trick to starting it? and would a starter box be good for it? as i trying to start it with the pull start cord!
thanks

where abouts in the uk you from mate?? is this your first nitro car?? i got my first nitro car about three weeks ago and had really bad problemsgetting it started!! set both the low speed and high speed needle back to the factory settings and then try!! if the pull start is hard topull then you may have flooded it!! if so take out the glow plug, turn the car upside down and keep puling the pull start until all the fuel has come out of the enigne!! some may come out of the exhaust too!!
another thing, have you primed it?? look at the fuel tubing leading to the engine, is there fuel in it?? if not put your finger over the exhaust pipe and keep cranking it until you see the fuel reach the carb. once it has reached there crank it two more pulls of the cord. then try to start as normal!!
hope this helps, im really new to nitro and so people will probably shout at me if the stuff is worng lol!!
cheers

cover the exhaust pipe, take off the glow plug starter, put full throttle, pull the pull cord a few times
then try
remember
very quick, small, sharp pulls when your starting the engine up, keep pulling it quickly until it starts

is your glow starter charged fully?? that could be another reason!! if you have oiled the air filter, make sure its not over oiled and choking the enngine!! take out your glow plug, and try it on the glow starter because this will burn any excess fuel from the glow plug and willalso tell you if your glow starter is charged!!
supposed to be in my first race tomorw but my sis crashed my car into a goal post!!

lol unlucky man, hope it didn't do too much damage, yes we have tried that, we have done exatcly what the instructino's say, which is,
remove glow plug,
closed exhaust pipe and pull into fuel enter's carb,
then pull a few more time's, say 10-20,
turn it upside down and pull so the excess fuel is removed,
put glow plug back in and loosen 1-1.5 turns,
put glow starter on,
pull and it should start,
but itr won't
yes the glow starter is charged

Does it even splutter before dying? Usually the settings on new engines are far too rich. The low end needle usually needs leaning a touch to get it running. Leicester is rubbish for modelshops. Also have you touched the needles so far? if so did you touch the middle needle? if so it might need resetting, as these shouldn't be touched till you know exactly what you're doing.
