ok i got a xtm xt2 i had it out today ran about 5 tanks (was very fun) had it at a dirt track and around paths, done some sweet jumps and goes pretty fast (this is only my second time taking it out so yeppe lol)

anyways

about 3 hours ago i decided to take it out my front and give it a spin(just had to u know the feeling hehe), didnt use all the fuel up so had my dinner and came back to start it up to finish the rest of the fuel, wont start

dam

left it for a while, primed engine tryed again still wudnt turn over

i checked the glow plug, checked if engine was flooded was neither but i changed glow plug anyways just incase

after trying to turn it over a few times i turned it over slowly to hear it, i noticed when i was pulling the cord, there was a hissing sound, at first i thought it was maybe fuel burning on the glow plug but it was another sort of hissing

im thinkin a compression leak since the pull cord is very easy to pull and the hissing

basicly just need to know were are the spots to check for the leaks as i cudnt find out were abouts the hissing was coming from

Take the plug out, block the exhaust and pull the cord till a little fountain of fuel spits out the plug hole, refit the plug and try again.

keep your igniter on the glow plug when your starting the engine, myn refuses to start unless i do that

You werent running it tank after tank after tank were you Ive heard this will cause the carb to well stop working properly....hmm i may be wrong someone correct me if wrong
The fuel when entering the carb immediatly evaporates because of the heat and is no good if any of it reaches the combustion chamber!

If not that then airleak are commion around theback plate, this is the area at the back where the pull chord meats the engine block...is it loose?
also you can check by taking the engine and exhaust off the engine from the buggy then put a thumb over the exhaust outlet on the engine take off the air filter also as youll need to put a thumb over the carb (running outta thumbs here!) and use a piece of fuel tube connected to the fuel inlet on the engine blow through this whilst putting little soapy water around the back plate and where the carb meets the engine (carefull not to get water inside carb or anything) so ya basically blow really hard and you should see bubbles...a bit like check a tyre tube for a puncture!

im not stupid

thanks for your post will try that in the morning, just as well as i have 2 thumbs eh? hehe

also yep i was running tank after tank basicly, because i only got it ive only ran about 8 tanks through it and im running it a little rich so it loves to drink the fuel up quickly lol
i would of thought its better to run tank after tank (not quite literally for whole day lol) since when the engine is hot is alot easier to start up im wrong at that i guess hehe, when its warmed up it takes on first pull (as in first "turn over" i dont gotta pull it alot)

fixed, not sure wot was problem, i just done everything over again today and it began to start, knocked out first time then started it up again an worked, just wondering a few times i pulled the pull cord and it didnt go back in, i just turned the fly wheel and it went back in, is the 1way bearing starting to go already? lol

anyways i have stripped something, not sure what it is clutch bell rings a bell <-- hehe but i might be wrong cant remember wot exactly its called ive took a pic and uploaded it so u can see

it appears as if the clutch bell/spur mesh is fubared. There are metal flakes all over the place. Check to make sure the motor mount isn't loose. or motor itself is aligned properly.

which one is it ?, the big one is fine it looks bad on the pic though duno why, its just the smaller one is shreaded :/

i justneed to know which part it is on that picture so i can ask for it in my hobby shop

your clutch bell is on the end of the engine, might want to check those bearings too, and always make sure you engine is lined up with spur gear check your bolts periodically

if you ran tank after tank and DID NOT break the engine in correctly your engine will be toast in no time. and yes your clutch bell is shot( gear mesh was too tight or too loose). clutch bell's are about $15-$20. did you check to see if the head screws are tight? what temps were you running at?

hmm not the best pic in focus but you didnt have the buggy up against anything or hit anything head on? that would grind the clutch bell like that.
there about 10 pounds sterling.

You should really just run the engine or rich for a bit about 1/2 tank then switch it off and ensure the piston is not up at the top or your sleeve will tighten onto the piston and cooling down will cause deformation of the piston look up 'heat cycling' + 'rc engine run in' or something similar its a better way to run in an engine. Heat cycling!

Running tank after tank will not do your engine much good.

hi i broke it in properly from what i know. running it for around an hour with 10min breaks every few mins idling the first time slowly moving second and doing figure of 8's etc, i might of put the gears too tight when i put a new pull cord back onto it last week thats probably wot has done it, will know better the next time

everything was all tightened up, i check that every time i take it out anywhere, no idea about what temperature it was running at and i have no idea of checking, but i felt it and it wasnt too hot, before starting it i wraped tin foil over it and put a sock over it and heated the engine up with a hair dryer as it was freezing outside, seemed to of helped it start up i read that i should do that if its really cold outside

ill see about getting a new clutch bell tomorrow hopefully they are in stock so i can go out bashing again
