Hi I have seen some of those shock covers which go over the spring etc on some peoples pics and on e bay. Do people think they work for keeping out dirt etc.... and are they worth purchasing. As I live in muddy england they might come in handy on those wet/damp days thx in advance.

had them, used them, didn't like them. don't get me wrong everyone is entitled to there own opinion, but when i used them all they did wass lock whatever dirt got inside. after a race when i would go through my buggy for a good cleaning i would take the shock socks off and sirt and grime was all up in my shock. just throwing out my experience.

I do not know what shocks you have but my the shocks on my Hyper 8 come with shock boots that keep the dirt off the shafts and out of the seal. http://www.carolinasrc.com/webstore/...idproduct=1786

those sock shock do cause a bit of resistance, so i try and stay away from them. The best idea ive even seen is that on the jammin x-cr shocks. They dont cause any type of resistance, and do a great job keeping dirt from getting inside the shcosk, and scrathing up stuff. also the little rubbery plastic boots that the hyper 7 ( and i think hyper 8) shock come with work well, but they do eventually tear.

Notice the ti ni coating worn off the shaft where its closest to the shock in the pic below. This is a shock for the 8ight buggy, the boots that come in the kit are a little flimsy and when I was putting them on I ripped one and ended up tossing the rest of them. I should have ordered another set and used them. Also, my shocks are leaking due to this as the plastic piece and the shock shaft are both sanded down from the dirt sitting there while the shock went through its motion while running the car. My car has a little over a gallon through it. Shocks with an o-ring at the base of the shock will probably be good and this wont happen as it will kind of clean the shaft as it goes in, but these shocks dont have an o-ring at the bottom.

If you can get the right ones for your car I would say by all means use them. They can only help. I also dont really like them but I am going to have to use them unless I want to keep spending $40-50 to rebuild my shocks every gallon.

Give it a shot. If you don't like them then oh well you wasted $1 and some time.
I don't have that truck anymore, and I have a Hyper 8 now(I've seen the light) but I personally didn't have any real benefits from them... fine dust still gets through, but it did keep thick mud and whatnot off. I use the rubber ofna booties now.
