I'd go hyper 8 rtr. I just bought one online that had been upgraded to better servos, radio and .21 engine and it cost me $425 shipped. Spend another 150 to get all the chargers, batteries, oil, fuel and a few spare parts and you're good to go till you outgrow your new toy. The 8 should be enough car to handle any mid level performers at your club.

Don't buy any RTRs. You'll be upgrading the radio, servos, shock oil, diff oil, tires (you get tires with a kit but you can atleast use the rims if the tires aren't good for your track), engine, probably the shock towers and maybe the chassis. By the time your done you'll be spending more then you would have on the kit in the first place.
You can get the hyper 7 TQ kit for about $230. I have driven them and they are pretty damn good. I've kept up with decent drivers running the MP777 while using a friends hyper 7 TQ. The hyper 8 is deffinatly an upgrade so if you can spare the extra cash get the hyper 8. Its WELL worth waiting a little longer to save up money and get a good car to start with instead of an RTR.
