I use it to bash around; I don't race at all so i don't need it be light. I got them made right after i broke one of the front arms and it's hella strong now. XT2's can take a good beating... believe you me.

Yes, but at 13 your are a bit young to have your first nitro. I would suggest an electric car. I got my first at 12 and it was a disaster.

yeah that sounds like a good idea... unless you have like an older brother thats gonna help out. for some reason i had a bit of a hard time breaking in my 24.7 versus my 457, but the 24.7 is on my bro's x-factor now and it's running really good!

You know electrics can be fast for cheap. And nitro plane engines are nothing like ground engines.

I don`t think telling someone they should not have a nitro based on their age is right at all . Some kids grow up working on engines from their motorcycles , atvs , or whatever . Age has nothing to do with the engine knowledge and common sense of someone . I know people 50 years old that wouldn`t know what to do with any engine but little 8 year old kids that do . I had my first nitro when I was 9 , but had basic engine skills from my dirt bike and three wheelers.

Granted most do not know at a young age but you can`t just make a statement like that just because he is 13 .

An average 13 year old kid (like most in the world) don't have any previous engine background. Most kids at that age don't appreciate or understand some of the basics or how important it is for certain things to happen or to take steps in a procedure. I am not degrading him, but am referring to "most" 13 teen year olds. I know a plethora of kids that would give up at that age because a glow plug burnt out and they don't know how to replace it.

Just got my new XT2 last night (for a killer deal too!). Ready to break it in today...

Here's the bone stock XT2 in all it's glory (cameraphone). I have a feeling that I'll be needing to beef up the suspension arms on first inspection....

new xt2 huh, good deal dude. i don't think you really need to beef up anything, it's a really good buggy right out of the box. except for the Hitec radio which is kinda giving me problems now, but yours probably came with the new Cirrus radio.

I've heard good and bad things about the XT2, but mostly that it's a good performing starter car. Yes, I believe I have the Cirrus radio with this one. I'm going to use if primarily to bash around on some natural terrain (mostly packed dirt with some rock content) so we'll see how well the parts hold up.

6 more hours until break-in starts

Well, I used to go up to Holy Jim's (Santiago Canyon), but that's gonna be alittle hard to do at the moment given the fires and the fact that it's currently closed. Break in is going to be in my apartment's parking lot

that'd be cool but both of those tracks are hella far from OC!!! I've never even to Holy Jim's and thats pretty close to my city... too bad about the fires! I couldn't even breath cuz of the ashes.
