My buddy has a Duratrax Raze, and needs a new .28 pull start engine.
Can anyone suggest an engine like that for under $150, besides an Axial .28?

This engine (Toki .27) seemed to get pretty good reviews. My GF has the .21 version in her Mayhem and it really is pretty good, especially fo a $74 engine. It pefoms about like a better-than-average stock .21 engine. So I think the .27 version would do even better especially for a basher.

Haha, Right when I saw the title I was going to suggest an Axial .28
Why are you avoiding it? You could get the RR version under $150 as well.

He has had bad luck with Axial (one blew up, the other snapped a motor mount off the case putting a hole about the size of a pencil in the case by the crank).
The Mach 427 looks promising. is there a pull start, or pull start conversion for it?

Honestly you should try something for like 20 bucks more, an LRP .28... 168 at tower, better then the 427. but the 427 is a great motor too. or the Axial for a MT

I would get the Sportwerks 26V2 over the Mach 427, the SW26 V2 has a bigger carb on it (so that means more power) its got a pull start and its cheaper then the 427.
