heres a good rule, if you do the mod, go from last place to first, its illegal, otherwise it doesn't realy matter for club racing

The only time it is illegal to run modded engine is if the race is done on hand out stock engines.

No, you gave a pointless answer because they never hand out nitro engines in any class. So whats the point of what you said?

Ask the new european champion. He cut extra holes in his radio box and body to allow for the cooling of this 2.4 Ghz receiver in preparation for the 60 minute main. IMO, he broke the rules and the trophy should go to 2nd place.

The rules state that the only holes to be cut in a body are the ones for the fuel tank access, engine head, mixture screw access & antenna hole & body post holes. the holes have max dimensions too. he can legally cut extra holes in the radio box, but not in the body.

BUT he got passed at inspection, and no one protested, so it's a mute point, he won.

Raising awareness by Forums such as this can help improve things for next time. If the rules are fairly clear then its fair for everyone to (be expected to) follow them.

In my opinion, the race director / promoter needs to specify how "close" various rules are to be followed. As long as everyone has to follow the same rules, that's the main thing.

I believe the body has limits when it come to cutting open holes, not the radio box, so I don't think it was illegal.

Default RE: illegal?

he cut holes in both, there's pics on neobuggy.

I don't think it would have made the car any faster, but it may (stress MAY) have increased the time he was able to drive before the Rx cut out due to overheating. so it's more of a durability/endurance point. but we'll never know for sure.

exactly, and no one protested so it doesn't matter. some of the other guys that had issues are probably kicking themselves for not thinking of it.

I prefer to see the result come down to the driver, not the car, so as long as it didn't increase/decrease the performance or speed of the buggy it doesn't bother me. but having said that there are rules for a reason. personally I think it should have been picked up, but as it wasn't he's free to take the win. I think he would have won with or without the holes in the body.

What rules was the Euros under though, as ROAR doesn't apply, IFMAR or EFRA I assume.
