Ladies and Gentlemen....boys and girls......
WE HAVE ROPE!!!
Thank you Rashid for that one....[sm=thumbup.gif]
A 10 ton truck has been booked for tomorrow morning to come pick it up and drop it off at the track....and it's a load of rope....probably need two trips.
Next step is Sabkha, water and a bobcat and guidable roller/compactor.
Anyone have access to this equipment or can donate the use of it for a weekend?
I'll keep you guys posted, but will most likely see you on Friday at Nad al Sheba.

OH MAN!! Thats the Nitro Pit if im not mistaken... Oh yeah Killer track! Awesome stuff, If I can help in anyway I will. Just need to get there first.... BTW... theres more than enough jumps in that layout, and if its good enough for Nitrocross among most other Major races, trust me its good enough for Dubai.

Ahh Also If we can get ahold of some Kiln Dust... its industrial waste and its FREE... (see national cement company Dubai) that will be benficial in stabilizing the sabkha soil for RC use. Also adding Lime will dim the high concentrate of salt in sabkha (only if funds permit of course) meaning we wont have rusty cars anymore... Add water and GO!!! But somebody please tell me im wrong...

Hi Guys,
Been in the RC world for a couple of years now and I found this thread finally (Hoooraayyy). This might sound a silly question, however can you please tell me where is the new track being built and how can we help (Sorry but don't have access to heavy machinery) but seriously would like to help out in my possible capabilities.
Regards
Joe

Joe,
I am sure someone (Tommygun) will post you directions to the new track. It look like we will all try to head out there tonight and help out with the setup of the track. Ropes have finally come in so we should be a go.
I am heading out there myself tonight so will post up the GPS coordinates once I get back.

RE: Dubai - RC Events
Hi and welcome Joe,
New track directions: Take the Al Ain road heading towards Al Ain. Go past the Outlet Mall, go past the Rugby 7's stadium, now you'll start seeing a camel race track on your right and you'll pass a petrol station. Take the turn off just after the petrol station. At the top of the hill, make a left and another left and cross the overpass. Keep going straight over the camel grate in the ground. Keep driving straight and follow the road when it turns right. Take this road all the way to the end. At the end, it turns left through a gate...you're there. Can't miss it.
Guys, I dropped the rope off today and it's there waiting to be laid down. Arif and Rashid are at the track as I'm writing this (4:30pm Thrs) and they could use some help. If anyone's free this evening, get out there and give us a hand please, it would be highly appreciated.
Joe.....googlearth shots.

RE: Dubai - RC Events
Hi Guys,
We'll be heading to the new track about 3pm. Everyone is welcome to come and give it a try. Thanks to Rashid and Arif and Mohammed and everyone else who helped lay the rope out....as well as all their efforts so far.
Update as to where we stand at the moment and plans for the near future:
Track laid out and barriers in place. Drivers stand there and so are two bleachers for viewing. I am visiting a company on Saturday afternoon to check the quality of their Sabkha. If it's up to scratch, I'll be ordering 6 or 7 truck loads of it that will be delivered on Sunday morning.
We have conditionally got the use of a roller and bobcat, but still waiting on confirmation of this.
We'll be ordering a tanker of water and need to secure a pump, generator and hosing. I'm currently waiting on confirmation to go and pick up a couple of rolls of green netting that we can use as shading for the driver's stand...and whatever else we see fit to use it for.
Guys, don't even bother going to Nad al Sheba today. Everyone's invited to come to Lisayli today and give it a go. I know there are no jumps at the moment....but it will still be hel'la fun and challenging. Might as well get some practice on it. It will also give us a chance to discuss things so far. Please text all your friends and mates...pass the word to everyone you know. Directions to Lisayli are a few posts up, or if you need help, call me on 050 635 3046.
Thanks to everyone again for their efforts and contributions. This track is going to ROCK!!

RE: Dubai - RC Events
lots of work is waiting to be done and help is appreciated, to clarify one point is that this Friday is open to all but next times are not, any one helped and contributed will be welcomed but others are not after this Friday.
lots of effort and back breaking has been done (tommygun32 knows it ) and more will be done.
if we work together all of us this can be a really good track ( international track) , all contribute and put in some elbow grease that's the way all self dependent tracks around the world continue to be up and running.
lets not make the same mistakes as in nad al shiba track, some do the hard work and others come to have fun with no help or effort. in the end all will not do anything and track will be same as nad al shiba.

RE: Dubai - RC Events
Hi dxbman and all members,
I've just found this thread a while ago and although I did not physically contribute in building the new track, i am ready to contribute financially so I can use it in future.
However if you don't mind me expressing my thoughts. I believe in order to avoid the nad al shiba saga, you need to form an association that will determine membership fees and roles for members to do when they are not playing (be on track and clear up role-up cars and debris.. etc)
All of us on this forum share one thing, passion for RC. I'm sure lots will be more then happy to pay membership and get to use the track. You guys obviously put lots of hard work and sweet (more to come i'm sure) toward this track and your passion, and it's just not fair for people to underestimate that or take it for granted, and just show up to bash.
Please let me know your views.
Regards
Joe
