1/8 Engine Interchangeability Question
Are the 1/8th engines generally interchangeable? I need to get a new motor for my buggy but with me being a newb, I'm not sure if I can get any .21 motor or if I need to get a specific motor that would fit my specific buggy. Any suggestions for a cheap, reliable basher motor? Thanks.

Usually almost all .21 engines can mount into an 1:8 buggie.
What car do you have and what engine were you running in it before?

Don't laugh; a duratrax axis (given to me for free). It had a Torq .21 on it. I do not want to spend a lot of money on a new motor, I just want to get the car up and running again (for bashing) as I had a blast with it when it was running well. Thanks. -J

RE: 1/8 Engine Interchangeability Question
Well....I'm not that knowlegeable with the Torq engines as I went straight from an XTM engine to OS VZB's.
If there's a LHS in your town, just head over there and see what they have on offer. Tell them what you're looking for and for what purpose you'll be using it. If you have any doubts, take the buggie with you to the store and check that it fits.
I'm pretty sure there are plenty of affordable engines that will fit the axis. Go, Sirio, Pico are a few I've found on Amain. Plus some of the better ones that they have specials on at the moment.

Good luck

This could get pricey. I'd likely have to get a clutch to fit the motor, and a pipe as well. I'm wondering if it is even worth fixing the axis now. -J

You can also check out eBay...[&:]
Or as you may have noted, for the price of some top notch racing engines, you can get an entire entry level basher that will more than do the trick...
Check them out as well. I started in this hobby last Christmas with a gift from my brother of a XTM XT2. I still have it and it still runs and is a lot of fun. Taught me alot as well.

Yup ebay is your friend for RTR type engines (or engines of any sort really)
The hyper 3 port engine is a reasonable engine for nota lot of money. A little more will get you an 8 port which is even better.
Also look at SH engines (also manufacturers of LRP, Nosram, Dynamite and no doubt some more)
