Default Too much smoke and lean boq

Hey guys, i am having some weird symptoms from my engine (OS Vspec). The smoke is just too much and sometimes give me that "boq" thing that means it want more fuel, but if i give more fuel, then my buggy will be look like a fireplace than a RC car [&:] I'm using Tornado 20% right now untill i eat the last litre of it and then use my Powermaster 30%. Any idea? The engine is fine and is running great but i have this symptom. Oh, and i think my engine overeating fuel for some reason, it wants more often refueling than before. The whole engine is 2 years old and the piston/cylinder/conrod are 1 year old (because i changed them after my engine died once)

If the engine is bogging, then you want to lean it to allow more air. Not richen it, or give it more fuel.

Did you try a new plug and what is the oil content in the fuel you are using?

Oh, i get it now, you shouldn't put that comma there

The glow plug is brand new, just change it before i start running. I don't know the oil content of the fuel. I thought that about oil but i used tornado with that engine again and i haven't had such smoke [:-]

Oil content has a lot to do with tuning, the way the engine performs and smoke among other things.

does it start off with the bog or mid tank? may be lean bottom, v-specs don't like lean bottoms. richen the bottom about flush then lean the top so it clears out on the box. then set idle with idle stop screw. do not touch he mid needle. from there you can lean out the top by 1 hour increments every few laps until it starts to bog again, then richen it back 2 hours and you should be set.

A while ago I was struggling with a Vspec. It would start off fine but after 2 laps when its up to temp it just lean bogs badly. I richen and it doesnt want to go away. I changed carb and tried various things.

It turned out that the clutch was the problem. I changed the clutches to a 1.1mm spring and aluminiums and the problem was completely gone. I then had to retune the engine.

Maybe its the same for you. Vspecs generally do not give much hassles.
Hope this helps.

I was going to suggest the clutch as well, providing its a low end bog, maybe try some stiffer springs or even check to see if one of the shoes are broken.
