Alright, I bought a hyper 7 used here on RCU. I got it out today for the first time. It cranked fairly easy, and idled perfect. It'll sit and idle all day long. But when I give it gas, it'll rev up real high and stick there. I know it's not the idle screw, and I reset the needles back to factory settings, and tried retuning from there, but I can't get to rev down after giving it gas. Sometimes I can bump the gas and it'll rev back down for a minute, until I go to give it gas again and it revs back up. After I go round like this a few times, it'll rev back up and stay there...any help would be great...

my 1/10 buggy was doing that and it turned out that the rubber boot around the LSN had crap built up behind it. It wasn't allowing it to fully close and always kept the RPM's up, check that. Also with the car off, when you open/close the carb is it smooth or does it feel rough? If that feels fine and there is nothing holding it back, look at your servo. Disconnect the servo from the carb and turn you electronics on. Hit the throttle a couple times and check to see if the throttle servo goes back to it's normal position. Other than that, I dont know. May need a new Carb. How much fuel did they "say" was ran through it?

Well he didn't say exactly, but I know he was running a custom blend 30% heli fuel, with very high synthetic lubricants. I don't know the exact recipe. But I had planned on taking the carb apart and soaking it in WD40. He said he hadn't run it since December, so hopefully the carb is just gunked up and a good cleaning will do. If not then I'll probably have to get a new carb. I don't know. I have a 1/10 ST, but it has a rotary carb on it, and I've never experienced anything like this before.

Well if it's been sitting that long and not ran it may just need a good cleaning. Sound like that may be the problem. Good luck and let me know how it turns out. Joe

Oh, another question, I noticed that the glow plug on this .28 is ever so slightly longer than the O.S. #8s that I use in my ST. But it's only like a mm or 2 longer. Does this mean I have to use a long plug, or can I use my O.S. #8s?

If the plug isn't long enough it could be misfiring. No going off at the right time, either too late or to soon can mess everything up. Try and get yourself a stock plug and see what happens. As for the carb and ports, I dont know much about that so I hope someone else can pick up on that.

Ok, I've has my hyper out the last couple days and it's been running great, but, I noticed Sunday that it's apparently running really hot. So hot in fact, that it's melting the housing on the pullstart. Now, it's not running lean, in fact it's running pretty rich, and it's still reving high after a WOT run, I've retuned, and like I said I've got it running pretty rich, but I still can't get the temps down, nor figure out why it keeps reving high.....suggestions please.....

Hmm, I didn't think about an air leak. Now I know it's not the gas tank or the fuel lines, cause I've replaced them, but where all should I check, and what's the mest method to check for leaks?
