are you bashing or racing? if bashing that is one of the best buggies to bash with. but not so good for racing.

Hi Traxxas Joe, for the same price you could just go get a (((KYOSHO))) which would be alot tougher for bashing or racing, check out the MP7.5 INFERNO series of buggies. I hope christmas comes for you soon.

Hyper 7 is just fine. Even for a beginner racer. It helps if the local hobby shop (if you have one) stocks OFNA parts. Most do.

I got my Hyper 7 pbs used, and have bashed the thing pretty hard on the track.  It has held together well.  I completely disassembled it after last race and found no broken parts.  I am, however, replacing brakes, bearings and fluids.  This is my first buggy, so I haven't driven any other buggys and can't compare to others, (other than to say that it can stay with all the others on the track) but this thing does handle much better than the revo I used to have.  I spent lots of money on that revo, and it handled like crap compared to the buggy.  I also broke parts every race with the revo, no broken parts yet with the buggy.
Hopes this helps some.

1/8th scale buggies IMO probably have the best handling you can get in a RC

Traxxas Joe you might also want to look at http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-4WD-RTR-Buggy
I got one of those and that sucker is pretty sweet. Honestly I almost bought the hyper 7 (read extremely good reviews on both) but the motor the jammin comes with was the deciding factor over the TQ black. Also talked to people that owned the jammin and said they tried to break it and couldn't
I never heard any bad things about the TQ black either

btw you will want a better servo for steering the stocks on 1/8th RTR's are kinda crummy, and don't seem to last long. I popped a Hitec 645mg in my jammin and the thing works perfectly.

Agreed on the steering servo.  I used the 645mg in mine for steering for a while, but have put the 7955tg in and the 645mg is on throttle/brake.  Have yet to try it out that way.  Will post up when I do.

I just purchased the ofna picco buggy. just finished break in and that went alot smoother than expected. i also considered the hyper 7 tq black but chose the picco for the motor. everyone i talked to and the reviews icould find rated picco motor alot better (stonger, reliability, tuneing, and engine life) over the macstar.28. if you can find a hyper 7 with the hyper .21 motor that would b a graet buy. my friend got about 4 gallons through his and it still screams. hope this helps

why I went with jammin it has a F.28 which is the same engine pretty much as a Savage X RTR has and I've only read great reviews on that engine lasting over 6 gallons easy(seen a fair amount of ppl hitting 8 gallons and still not rebuilding it).
