RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

make sure its not really freaking cold, i find it hard to tune engines when its cold.

my rc8 has been here for a few weeks now and i have to say, holly balls this thing rocks. so far i've ran it into my street curb going full speed, nothing broke and ive hit a parked car, nothing broke either (however i had to get my nieghbors to move thier car so i could get my car out, it was really stuck) and this thing was used before too!!! i want to marry it and have kids with it.....maybe not that far...

i just bought my rc8rs. anything I should know about tunning it. do any of you guys have the rtr? I am verry happy with this buggy. i just finished braking in the motor. i'll be tuning it tomorow. I can't wait to start hoping it up!! big bores will be the first thing.:D
You will love the Big Bores. Makes a world of difference. I'm running the Jammin BBs and it's stable at full speed. I recently broke a front shock shaft and had to put the stock front shocks on it to keep running and the front end was just bouncing every which-a-way. Had to take the straights at 3/4 throttle just to maintain control.

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

The Jammin big bore shocks will work as long as you order the OFNA/Jammin shock stand offs(upper shock mounts) for the 13mm shocks.(OFN40531)
The stand offs that come with the 16mm shocks are too long and put the shock in a bind on the RC8.
Stock RC8 shock ends are tuff to screw on the Jammin shafts, but they work better than using the Jammin ends.

I would recommend the Jammin silver springs, 1.4 pistons and 40-45 weight oil as a starting point.

Difference in handling 16mm VS 13mm shocks? NIGHT AND DAY.
Get the BB's set up right and you can drive harder thru everything on the track.
They just soak it up and keep on truckin.....

I don't really see or feel any difference between the AE big bores and the Jammin big bores, so I will be keeping the Jammin BB's on my buggy.

That being said, I will be ordering a new RC8 (for my electric build) in the next week or so and I see that AE is giving away BB shocks to December buyers.

Sweet.:D

I'm thinking about doing that for the upcoming season. Likely will use either the Associated or RC Product Design kit and a MMM/Castle neu "clone" combo.

Can you explain what you mean by the 16mm standoffs put the shocks in a bind? I don't have my buggy in front of me to verify, but would shorter standoffs mean that the shock cap would scrub against the shock tower? Pictures of the shorter standoffs on your buggy would be helpful as well. Thanks.

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

So McFly do you recommend the RC8 over the XRAY XB808. I guess Im just trying to decide which one to buy. I have an OS Vspec World Edition and a Jp4 itchin to get into action. And Im looking into a buggy to drop them into, And ive narrowed my choices down to the RC8 and XB808. And Ive heard from some that thr RC8 is soft but parts are cheap and readily available. and the XB808 is hard and the hards are hard to come by and will drain me dry.

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

so far, I love my rc8. i would definitly go for one since theres more of them out there and i haven't heard barely anything on the xray

nissan300ztt 02-03-2009 07:13 PM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

well Im gonna settle on the Xray because ive heard too many people state that their RC8s break very easily. And I mean i reading lots of horror stories not being able to finish races because the RC8 was breaking. Im a good driver and know how to control a buggy but still.

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

my head just hit my desk.[sm=crying.gif]
i ran atleast 3 races and i am a terrible driver. and i havent broken a thing. me and my friends had a high jump contest i think i got it to like 11 ft or something and i landed at an angle on the front left a arms. nothing broke. i have also ran it into the curb on my street going about 85% throttle. nothing is broken.

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

Anybody here converting their RC8 to electric? I have the RTR version and plan on picking up the Associated conversion kit and swapping the .28 into my Monster GT since the original .21 in that is getting pretty weak. Anyway, apparently the regular RC8 body will not fit over the packs on the battery side, so TA has a new RC8E specific body. Has anyone has luck using the TA conversion kit with any other bodies, like a Crowd Pleazer or Illuzion? The Associated E-body seems to be taking a long time coming into stock.

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

Okay, so I guess no one's watching the thread anymore.

Anyway, I finished my conversion last night (except I still have to paint the new body) and took it for a spin on the local soccer pitch on my lunchbreak. Using MMM v3 ESC, Castle/Neu 2200kv motor, and tested with a set of 2 Protek 4000mah 2S packs, 16T pinion/46T spur. Oh, my![X(] I thought the car was pretty quick and responsive with the .28 propelling it, but this is a whole order of magnitude better, even on these cheapy packs. If anyone's on the fence about converting, go for it!

Good luck with that 8-0-8ight............

Rack up enough DNFs because your pit guy can't get it restarted after a flame out or a plug burns out unexpectedlyand you might reconsider. I have no problems with my tuning and maintenance skills and I like nitro just fine for bashers(see aforementioned MGT) but to me at least a nitro engine is just one more potential hassle when racing. Besides, after years of being around nitro planes, cars, and helis, I really don't enjoy the noise anymore. But, different strokes for different folks.
