No engine, no electronics.

paintfreaksr, most ready to run kits come with very cheap motor & electronics that you end up replacing anyway. They normally come as way down graded versions of the race kit (2 shoe clutch instead of 4, cheaper metal parts or even plasic in places the race version has metal, non-threaded shock bodies, cheaper chassis etc.)

Mypoint in all this is that Associated put out a halfarsed buggy into the most competetive area of the hobby atm and they held it back blaming R&D, when quite obviously they had not done the D bit, this buggy isfailing it's owners more and more now and it's only when aftermarket parts are bought that it becomes reliable.
My kyosho 777 needed some aftermarket parts (front knuckles) to make it reliable. I also went out and bought the $150 big bore shocks which helped but it still doesn't handle like the rc8. This buggy is good and whether you get the upgrades that I got or not it is still a good buggy. Maybe it doesn't suit your driving style. It doesn't mean it's a bad buggy. Later

Hey Sanka, funny about the Kyosho. When I sold mine with all the parts there were like 8 steering knuckles. When I looked closer they were all lefts. Think the right side had a design defect.

What is wrong with non-treaded shock bodies? How many cars with them have won the worlds? (I'll give you a clue, it's a round number).

I never said anything was wrong with them, I said they were cheaper. I used them on many cars and would say the only down side is having a bunch of spacers to carry around and the occasional one will disappear off the car.

That's never been a problem for me though and obviously not for the Wc winners either, LOL.

That's good for you. If you really think so little of the RC8, sell it. If I was as unhappy with mine as you are with yours, I would sell it. I'm at 1.5 gallons, No damage.

What are you refering to? We are talking about non-threaded shocks in general atm.

I have a huge problem about the rc8 i want to get one but the kit doesn't come with all the electronics and engine right?

because its 500 for the "kit" and like 1k for a motor to come with on teamassociated.com
All so no tires or exhaust.

and no throttle....ummmm i forgot what its called... it's the throttle thing on the servo. it doesnt come with that or do those come with you own servo?

sanka378 10-26-2007 02:43 PM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

It comes with the servo horns. I ran the car again last night and it is good, still haven't broke anything. This car is so stable and has lots of steering, I love this car!

gokartingbob455 10-26-2007 02:47 PM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

not the servo horns but the long thing that connects with the engine and the servo horn

sanka378 10-26-2007 02:49 PM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

It comes with that too.

gokartingbob455 10-26-2007 02:49 PM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

wow that was quick

gokartingbob455 10-26-2007 02:52 PM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

okay and does it come with the low profile air filter? or do u have to buy that
well what does it come with other than the chassis/

sanka378 10-26-2007 02:53 PM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

:D

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

It comes with the filter. It comes with everything minus engine, receiver, servos, battery, and tires. It comes with rims, no tires.

gokartingbob455 10-26-2007 03:55 PM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

do u have to screw everything on? like battery case?

crazysavage 10-26-2007 05:44 PM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

you have to build the radio tray and battery box as you install your own electronics, but the engine mount and clutch assembly onto your own motor, build and set up the likages and go race. 1 hour and 20 minutes if you take your time.

gokartingbob455 10-26-2007 06:01 PM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

what do you mean build?

sanka378 10-26-2007 10:38 PM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

yup

gokartingbob455 10-27-2007 09:37 AM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

that sounds like a crap load of work to me
and u said it would take 1 hour and 20 minutes to do it. do you just make your own radio tray and battery box? or do you just buy one that'll fit

annie_himself 10-27-2007 09:49 AM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

He means you have to install servos and linkage. Not MAKE a servo tray. It should be rally easy, time consuming, but easy.

SManMTB 10-27-2007 09:55 AM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

If you think that's a crap-load of work you should not get a 1/8 at all.
