To gokartingbob, don't take this the wrong way but maybe you should get some first hand advice from someone instead of posting a bunch of spammish questions...
do some research before posting.

How does the rc8 handle bumpy tracks does it soak up the bumps or bounce.

Da Smak 10-27-2007 07:16 PM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

It soaks them up quitewell, but if you go too fast it starts to dismantal itself, I am talking up at WOTwith a V-Sped Speed modded engine though.

I seen them at the track and they don't look as smooth through the ruff as the losi8

I'm just under 2 gallons, running the car with a C6 about 40% of the track at full throttle & my car still has no issues. I did notice a loose (slightly) screw on one of the rear upper links, I tightened it. I had to file the burrs off of the clutch shoes yesterday (original clutch shoes). I opened the diffs & the shocks last night (just to see) and the all had fluid and there seems to be no leakage. The shock oil was still clear as new. The diffs looked like normal after a couple of gallons (oil darkish). I changed the diff oils & shock oils since I had them open.

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

Well, I don't know about it correcting itself, but let me tell what my RC8 did last Sunday. A good friend of mine was getting in some practice at the LHS and we were running together on the track. He was running his truggy, I was running the RC8. Buggy and truggy races are not fair. I have to stop and wait on him very often. Anyway, one of the times that I stopped and was waiting, when I took off in order to be side by side with him he ran into me on the face of the largest jump on our track. Typically when you land this massive double it is 30-35 feet away from the jump. Imagine this in your head or grab a Hot Wheels car and act this out with it. When he hit me I veered to the left and hit a lawn mower tire that is on the top left of the jump. My buggy went nose up all the way to being upside down perfectly. While in the air, my buggy rotated clockwise two whole times, like a flat spin for an airplane. As I continued through the air the buggy then finished the back flip and landed on all fours past the downside landing slope. How did that happen? who knows, who cares? It was really cool. Does it correct itself? I don't think so. But, something happened that day. Everybody there who saw it started shouted and cheering, because of how wild it looked. My buddy and I acted like we did it on purpose, knowing the whole time that there was no explanation for what just happened. It was cool. :D

man, thats cool. do you have any videos of it because that would be tight.

i actually took the time to go into my crawl space and get the hotwheels cars out. lol

i bet the people at ae put cat brains in it so it would land on its feet. haha

No video. I wish that we did have some footage of that. It would be sweet.

thread dead or what?

Any new info?

I want one, but I'm skeptical about it. Too many unknowns.

No car will correct itself without your help. It's all in eye-hand coordination.

You shouldnt buy anything you are skeptical about but I will say that the Losi 8B required all kinds of goodies and fixes to get it to be reliable and the RC8 has required none. I did add the King headz top plate but my stock one is still perfect working order.

Nice contradiction there.

BTW... Turned on itself, skepticism would question that skepticism is a valid perspective at all.

The literary giant, also known as Da Smak, lurks in the shadows and slices away at the medioce rc knowledge of all others not named, Da Smak. Thank You! Kind Sir.

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

yeah it was a really good review, imo. since they waited for it so long they had a crap load of stuff about it. pick it up and

they tried to break it and it didnt give way

yeah i loved the review, they said - they rate things weird (i guess it was a 9.5-10)
steering - oversteer
braking - excellent
acceleration- excellent
suspension - (obviously) excellent
jumping - good
Durability - excellent

gokartingbob455 11-14-2007 09:25 PM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

oh yeah, they said it went 45 mph in 3.96 seconds and topspeed 48.96 in 8.06

do kits come with all the crap you need to put on the engine like clutch bells, that crap?

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

i think i saw the rc8 that was in the 1st video on ebay. and [link=http://undergroundrc.com]undergroundrc.com[/link] is a really good place. tey have drawings for engines, radios, etc.
if you go there and sign up tell them to give a whiny kid named "Daniel Hart" half off the membership fee. lol

Da Smak 11-15-2007 06:15 AM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

I've said before that this review was biased, one guy broke it in 15 minutes after a mild collision with a PVC pipe and the other is there with an AE team T-shirt on, how can you take an 8/10 rating seriously from those guys, I don't rate the RC8 over 5/10 but I'm gessing that the guy that broke it in the video (Marc) gave it 10/10 as the geezer with the furry head only slaped an 8/10 on it. 10/10 when it broke easily after 15 mins, get serious.

The only thing that video does show well is that the OS V-spec Speed mk2 is a very responsive and fast reving engine.
