hyper 8.5 questions, need help

What lubes are you guys putting in your diffs? I just picked up a new hyper 8.5 pro so I was wondering what weight lube to put in them.

What type of surface and tires are you running on most of the time? That has a lot to do with your diff oil selection.

RE: hyper 8.5 diff lube

i just put my V Spec in it. I will be running on medium and hard dirt mostly. Do the diffs come with lube in them already? I am frustrated with the 8.5. I got it then had to take it apart to put the on/off switch in it well then none of the screws would come out because the alan wrench didnt fit them so I had to dremel them to get them out. Did anyone else have that problem? I tried 6 different alan wrenches and none of them worked. I am going to finish putting it together today. Just have to glue the tires and put the shocks together and mount them.

Also what is the stock pipe meant for. Low, mid or top end?

Do you not have your own set of metric hex drivers? Invest in a good quality set, it will save you tons of headaches in the long run.

First thing I do when I get a new buggy is strip it down to the chassis and put it back together with locktite on all metal to metal screws. While I have it disassembled I do all of the diff and shock fluids. This is the best way to get to know your buggy top to bottom. For hard dirt I would personally go 5F-7C-3R. This set up will help pull out of corners rather than sliding through them.

I agree get a good set of hex wrenches, they will cost around $30 but they are well worth it. I didn't have any problems pulling mine apart.

I have 4 sets of nice hexes. I tried every one of them standard and metric and they did not fit at all. I tried the ones that came with it also. nothing. So do the diffs come prefilled or not?

So I get the impression that it goes:
Heavy up front
Light in the rear
And heaviest in the middle?

I am have an Ofna Ultra LX One and a Axial .28 coming in the mail very soon, so what would be a good set up?
I was thinking of 5000-7000-3000?

How many oz throttle servos are you guys using? i usually use the jr 590 servo but it burned up so I am going to buy a new servo (for my jammin) so I was curious what a sufficient servo was, preferably the best bang for the buck servo.

I have two hypers....in the one with the Spider Center Diff I run 5/5/3, in the one with a standard (6 gear) diff I run 5/7/3. They both have similar handling with this combination of setups.

awesome. i will have to try some of these combos. Does it come prefilled like the book says? It says 3000 front, 3000 center and grease in the rear.

5/7/3 didn't work for me. Way too much understeer. I've gone to 5/5/3 and will probably drop the rear down to 1 or 2. I can't seem to get enough front end traction through the turns. I'm considering losing the front sway bar too, if the thinner rear diff oil doesn't work.

What caster blocks are you running?

Have you tried the 20's or 18's? I felt there was to much understeer in my Hyper so I switched to 18's. It went form turning wide, to spinning out if I cut the wheel to hard. Its a HUGE difference. Just make sure you use red loctite on those bottom knuckle bushing screws.

Will these caster blocks also fit the Ofna Ultra series (LX1)?
