Jasper..... I really like the paint scheme of the above boat in this thread. The black and natural wood color made it unique. I will reuse this idea but with a different accent color. Give me some thoughts of a color that will work well with the nautral blode color of the wood.

it looks like one of the stealth planes to me, maybe something in flat black with flames at the stern end.

With that natural wood, I think you could get away with any dark color. A deep red or blue would look awesome!

open water year round....luxury, I've six inches of snow out side the window, and we have'nt had open water for about three weeks now, that why I asked about running that new project of your on the snow.

this project was part of a lazer cut kit from SI (self inflicted) airboats and is one of the first kits to roll of the line
i have seen the prototype of that boat with air rudders and that seemed to be ok for going straight but it isn't quite monuverable to race (my oppinion only)
but i suppose that if you ask chris he will put the air rudders in a kit

Update: Had a few warm days so I finished the build of the kit. Waiting on a few more to finish sealing so I can install the electronics. Powered by a OS.75 AX.

As of right now I do not have any updated pic of this project. I am in the final stages of sanding and soon to put it all together. I will update with pics soon. Working too much.... need time away! The SI kit is a great build. You can't go wrong with it!

Alright, Found some time. She is now 95% complete. The engine has 30 oz run thru it and is now ready for some RICH running around the pond. No video of the first running but will vid the second trip to the pond. Planning to run at least 1/2 gallon on the first trip out.

i like that air boat a lot. are you running zero degree wit the angle of the engine in relation to the surface area?

I always use zero angle. I really have never seen a big difference with engine angles on any(rear engine) puller style airboat. It''s your balance point needs the attention not the angle. There are also differnet ways to correct the attitude but the balance point is the #1 adjustment.

Below is a pic of a engine plate for a flatty. Notice all the adjustments for the engine placement.. I was able to fine tune the balance point to have one of the best Flattys around.

thanks for the help. i am building a Dumas big swamp buggy, and using elec cobalt 40 power. when i saw the SI, and no angle of attack on the motor, i got worried that the 5 degrees on the Dumas was gonna make it do something weird. i can always make another motor mount though if the attitude is weird. but from what you are saying the attitude wont amtter as much as balance.

i heard around 30% from the transom is a good place to start.
do you have any different suggestions?

I will tell you the Dumas and the SI are from two different worlds. I have never seen a GREAT running Dumas anything. I know for a fact many Hour/days/months were spent with the SI kit. It is well ballanced and there is no need for engine angle. Since I am using a bigger engine than what is recommended I''m sure I will play with the balance.

well, i had a BSB when i was a kid and loved it. this is just getting me back into airboats. i am sure once i flip it 100 times i will want a SI, and may very well get one to make into my own water bullet.[:-]
the dumas kits are all about how much cabinet building skills you have, not boat building skills. there is more epoxy than wood on mine right now...

cant wit to get one of my own and start the build. maybe i wont paint mine and i'll put a nice cherry stain on it. or maybe a walnut!

I finally got a chance to put this boat in the water. The OS.75 AX only had 3 tanks through her at first launch. WOW!.... This boat was fast right from the start. The all stock engine pulled her to a top speed of 56.2 mph. Sorry, but I did not think I would try for a speed run today. So no VIDEO's just a quick snap shot with the Blackberry. I know the picture is not proof but it's the best I could do.

I would like to say a BIG THANKS to CHRIS SELPH. Your laser kit was easy to assemble and easier to to get shocking SPEED!
