Default Greasing drive cable

How much grease do you need to put on the drive cable? Thick/glop it on.....or just enough to lubricate/coat the drive shaft

when i grease my cables. i take some and make sure to rub it in all over the cable as best as i can. then i take some more and kinda just put a thick layer on it. when you slide the cable in, the extra will come off. as i slowly push the cable in, i use a finger to get the extra that builds up and put it back in the tub of grease

I do what has been described above; but I use automotive brake grease. It is high temp and doesn't melt as much and run out out of the tube.
