I have always used a mechanical speed control. I am wondering if its okay to use an electronic speed control on my boat. And is it okay to use any type of motor? Thanks

Yes, you can use an ESC. There are some very good ones made for boats. I've used the Astro-flights myself and have been happy with them.

An ESC should work just fine. Depending upon how powerful a motor you want to use you should be sure to get an ESC that can handle the amperage. If you want the very best ESC for an electric boat go to www.rc-hydros.com These will even survive getting wet or a sunken boat.
