Default servos

i bought a new futaba radio with two s3003 servos. I figured that i could use the servos to to move the throttle and rudder on a 48 inch boat. Should i stay with the s3003 or get a 1/4 servo for the steering. thanks

i would def get a 1/4 scale, or atleast a high torque. That stock servo wont do much.

what is a 1/4 servo? i have a boat that's around 36ish" and i have a high torque futaba s9450 servo. will that do for steering? i haven't really tried it out for that i'm not near a pond or a lake and it's different when you pull it on land

Some people refer to large servos as 1/4 scale, where that came from was probably the airplane crowd. The size doesn't matter much any more as there are now standard sized servos that put out just as much if not more than the "1/4 scale" servos do. The 3003 is fine for the throttle but not enough to turn a boat of this size. Look for one with at least 100 oz. in. of torque for the rudder.
I don't know the torque and speed of the S-9450 without looking it up.
