Is Chesapeake close enough for you? Old Dominion Model Boat Association. Contact Preston Hall at pkhydro @ yahoo.com . This is a good club with some great members who know how to make boats go REALLY fast!

Oh, is that what your PM was asking about? [X(] Yup, that be them! They hold regular club races and a district race near the end of August.

I know what you mean about lonely running on your own. The nearest club to me is 2 hours away. While I do live within 10 minutes of a lake, I rarely take my boats there. Hopefully Preston will reply. If not, let me know and I'll chastise him, he should be at our district race in NC this weekend.

YUCK.... Uptight boaters.. It is only fair that everyone has time to use the lake for each kind of boating. If they think they can monopolize the lake for what only they want then I hope more gassers show up to teach them that everyone gets an equal share

In case you don't get a hold of Preston, our next race is July 23rd. We run at the lake behind Indian River High School. Open water starts at noon. Come by and check us out.

Showing up to teach such a lesson could end up getting everyone run off the lake. Most likely there are reasons why it's not appropriate to run loud boats there, and those reasons should be respected.

hey jimmy is anybody gonna be there this weekend??and piper chuck there is no reasons for theyre attitude problem.they say that nitro is not a hobby!!!!the park alows planes, nitro car, everything you can think of,but they think they own the lake..to be honest with you i steal their attention away from them when i drop my vegas in.i go to the far side of the lake far away from them and everybody just follows the sound!!!personally i would rather see a boat go 40 then a sailboat go 3.just my opinion

Sometimes the club members will go and test. All you can do is stop by and see if anyone is there. The lake belongs to the school board and we have a permission letter to use it. I always bring mine with me incase the police show up. Several of the club members are going to the Greensboro race this weekend so chances are slim you will find anyone there but it won't hurt to try.

I live in Va Bch also and would like to know if this club is for electric also. I am a member of Elite Fleet but they are a scale club and mostly navy type stuff. I have 2 sport boats and have been running them at a pond near my house and it would be nice to get together with others.

The way we are running the nitro stuff is open mono and open hydro. We have been running them by there IMPBA class but had trouble with getting three boats per class. This way everyone gets to race. As for electrics we don't have anyone in the club right now running them but come out and see what we do and we may be able to work something out. The gas classes are the biggest right now.

Ok I will see about the 23rd also - any special time? Right now I am in the process of painting one of the boats and need to clear it. Here is what it looks like so far.

Most of us get there about 11 and start setting up and geting ready. Open water starts at noon for those racing to test and tune, we have a short meeting at 1 and start racing soon after. Most of the time we are done by 5 and start packing up to go home. Bring a lawn chair to rest your feet and see if what we do interest you. We have some fast boats and close racing.
