Reply from Leopard on info request-
Thank you for your email. This is Angela from LeopardHobby China.
In regards to D or Y, the difference is winding way. But I'm sorry it's inconvenience to publish detailed information, because this is technical secret, hope you could kindly understand.
Have a good weekend!
OK- So I they won't tell you what they are selling. Just throw a dart and buy that one
YPC- If you read all the posts in the OSE Forum http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?1082-Delta-or-Wye There are 2 guys that say that D winding motors have MORE low end torque. I guess that if the kv is actually much higher on a D wind than the number indicates, that could explain not getting the expected low end torque. I am sticking with my conclusion that a Y is better for surfers. I want the slow down when I get off the gas and we are rarly at full throttle for long. I think a Y will change speeds with less current draw. Open for discussion ????
Any one knowing what a Stator is ??
Aloha, Karl

RE: RC Surfer
G'day fellas, long time no see.
I'm a little lost, tried to log onto RCSWW and it's gone??? Then I see here Jimi has pulled the pin as well.
I've been away working in Botswana, out of range so to speak, get back and obviously something's gone down that's drastically changed the landscape of the Oz RC surfer crew.
At least this place has seen some action, good to see some builds steaming ahead. I would like to get cracking on my own buildbut Ican't see that happening until at least the start of next year. With work, another six week trip to Botswana plus some other gigs around the place, then the big pack and move the family interstate it's just not going to happen. I'll have to live vicariously through you guys.

RE: RC Surfer
We have been having huge fun surfing at the New Jersey shore. Surfing always draws a crowd. Everyone wants to know where I got it. People want to surf it. Anyone out there sell T-shirts / web sites I can advertise for?
You never lived untill you surfed a RC surfer.

Hey Powerpark............just love your quote.........."You've never lived until you surfed a rc surfer"..................I have been very fortunate do have dome 'many'exiting things in my life and have to say that rc Surfing is 'certainly one of them'............Share the STOKE !
TGF- welcome - hope you enjoyed your visit to Africa - sounds like the rest of the year has been planned for you - hopefully you find some time to jump that 'back fence' and hit that awesome reef break you have.............looking forward to some good footage from you.
Chatting with Canz this morning - I had a thought to fit my basic digital camera to the top of my Pistol grip TX - I should be able to film some decent footage like that.........will give it a bash.......
Hopefully !........... we all re-group back at RCU, just in time to celebrate the 200 great pages.................can only imagine what the next 100 pages will bring.........

RE: RC Surfer
Hey thanks guys. R/C surfing makes you a better driver/surfer. No slacking out there in the water! Hey I have a problem with the rear hatch on my board. How the heck do you get that round disk to seal. Right now I have packing tape holding it down. Any ideas?

RE: RC Surfer
Park- I had Boardsharks with the same style rudderhatch and I use to put some silicon grease around the O-ring , but it almost always got water in it. Now Itake a pushrod tube make some tight fitting ends on it and tight fitting .063" stainless wire and fillit with grease (Maui John Inspired )and make a waterproof pushrod andI'mdone withhaving asteering hatch.
Good luck, Karl

RE: RC Surfer
Hey Jock and Maui - Great board - Great footage - I reckon I could spot a Maui Board a mile away - has a signature all of its own................its new owner can only but be STOKED.
TGF - that is such a cool spot you have in your 'Backyard - for both Surfing and rc Surfing.................pitty you will be moving year end......make th ebest of it.
I know Cape TOWN is along way from BOTSWANA - but - If you are ever around let me know- it will be a pleasure to have you stay.
How do you eat a elephant ?.............one bite at a time............same way you build a CUSTOM rc Surfer...........one step at a time........LOL
Took a few more steps today :
- Created the Hatch Lip - deflects water from entering under the hatch cover.
- Created the Hatch - 8 layers of glass - rigid.
- created Bro's Inner self - added some Carbon Fiber to hes legs and back - used EPOXY this time ( I broke his knee a while back, so this should help)

Just looking at the last Pic from Tom, I sea Why. I mostly Wait in the line up
for the correct peak. With Rc Surfing There is No Waiting Room, First Come, First Surf.
Except at The Bro Downs ...

Took a few more bites this morning......................
HATCH COVER BOLTS/NUTS
I like to go for only 6 bolts/nuts - but - I have a mate who has 'put his name' on this board - wont take no for an answer - so I have added a seventh bolt/nut - just to be especially safe............... in case he wins............LOL
4mm Stainless Steel threaded rod - 'slow' set epoxy, so that it seeps into the foam- use the silicone tube as spacers to ensure the correct/equal amount of thread protrudes - masking tape make the clean up easier - fit hatch cover whilst curing to ensure perfect alignment - dont push it down all the way - may be difficult to remove.
Once the epoxy has cured - remove the silicone spacer and masking tape - and you are left with 'clean' protruding threaded bolts all equally long..

RE: RC Surfer
Hey thanks guys for the hatch ideas. I had a block of wood epoxied , it held for a while. I think the grease will keep the water out.. I was thinking about gluing down a 5 mm threaded tube that I can screw into. I 'll get it. Kyosho did a great job on this board except for the rudder hatch disk.
No worries.
