Default Outboard Steering

Hey everyone I am ready to run my illusion tunnel and was just wondering how much travel my motor needs to have to turn the boat. I have approx an inch in both directions and had heard that is way to much I only need an 8th inch or so. Is this right?

Pretty much ... outboards really need such minimal deflection either side of center too turn well. Too much will just have hull hooking and going in with a big splash and engine taking a big gulp ... both bad [:-]

What you want is around maybe 1/2" to 3/4" in those "just in case" requirements.. When running, you will need just a little to make the turn.
