Default HPI MT2

I recently purchased a HPI Racing MT2 and i was wondering if i were to buy a new body shell, would it have to be a mt2 one or could it be just a standard 1/10 shell? </p>

hmm I found the standard shells don't fit as well.
I've tried a RC10 shell on mine, and had issues with the body mount posts being in bad spots.
HPI has if I remember right 5-8 different shells made for it(MT1 shells work), one of which is a military truck style shell.
Best bet would be to ask in this thread http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_15...age_836/tm.htm
That is where MT2 owners go to talk about stuff to do to the truck

i recently bought a hpi mt with a blue groove electric drivetrain conversion. i dont know if it is a MT1 or a MT2(dont know the differences)
but i also recently bought a bunch of bodies for cheap. among them was a jconcepts illuzion body. its new/unsued with no mounting holes. i test fit it on my hpi mt and it seems like it would mount fine.
im not going to use the body. i would sell it. PM if interested. also, the window are clear, i dont know why they look funny in the pic. my camera sucks.

MT2's had front bumpers that looked like a truggies(along with different body mounts, and shock towers). You can pretty much just slap on the MT2's front bumper, shock towers, body mounts, and shocks to make it a MT2 though Its a tad bit harder to convert it to a nitro MT2 that requires a new chassis plate and some other parts (I've done it )

I remember seeing you post it last week or so.

yeh, im waiting on traxxas to send a replacement vxl ESC(this make the 2nd time the replaced my vxl esc for free, even tho it is not under warrenty)
i still have to figure out how to gear it tho. i want to be able to use 3s lipo. and i think the spur is a differnt pitch then whats used on the ruster, so i will likely need new pinion gears. i might be able to use ones i bought for the emaxx, but i havent tried them yet.

thanx for posting the differences. sounds like the body may not work on his. also, i think i will pick up a front bumper for the MT2. i think it will look much better(plus be tougher) with a larger bumper.

yep, i looked up the blue grove converion just now and its mod 1. that may present a problem. only mod 1 pinions i can find on ebay are 5mm shaft, larger than the vxl motors shaft. i do have a 9xl brushless motor which has a 5mm shaft, but its lower kv and may not be fast enough on 3s. and i dont have a esc that will handle 4s.

like I said ofna SC10 pinions are mod1 and 3.2mm's (I think)
I use em on a 1/10th EZ-run motor on my Jammin.5 CRT which is mod 1
