Hey guys, Iwas just about to buya Hard-Case Turnigy Battery, and then Iread some forums that had a guy's lipo puffed after running it in snow, it was a thunder power pack, so no brand-quality questioning, and everybody on the forum agreed and told him that hardcase lipos cant be run in the cold. Then, one guy agreed, but also said they cant be run in hot outdoor heat, say 95-100 degrees, then they all said that if the guy got a softcase lipo, there would be less chances of him puffing his lipo because apparently it retains it's heat better, and then in the summer, a soft case lipo would also be better? Iam just as confused as you are probably, but what Iam trying to ask is, Can HARDCASElipos be run safely in 30-40 degree weather as well as 90-100 degree weather, thanks!

There are stories good and bad about LiPos everywhere you look. No, they are NOT as bad or finicky as they make em sound. Yes, they ARE still finicky but not if proper care is taken. And my final answer, PROPER research will unlock the answer to EVERYTHING except whether or not lady Gaga really is a man

hard case cant be run in the cold? tell that to my gravity packs..... you need to protect the cells from freezing, thats all. as soon as you pop it in the car and start running the battery will warm itself. the only issue with hardcases is the temp reading you get off the case is going to be a little cooler than the internal temp of the battery- but if your running your battery "hot" you need to upgrade. high temps WILL cause lipo death.

Hate to tell them that a hard, and soft case lipo has the same exact parts inside

So if a hard case couldn't be run a soft case couldn't run either.
Almost sounds like he might have got water or snow in the lipo that could have shorted it when it melted and puffed it.
But then again if you don't make sure that water don't get on/in the battery ou will trash it.
