lipo is not like a bomb waiting to go off
just get them, and store them safely
you don't need to dig a nuke shelter under your backyard in order to safely use lipo batteries
with the huge amount of boneheads and newbies using lipo's now, you'd hear a LOT more horror stories if they were actually that dangerous

yeah, but who actually overcharges them?
we have people who can't figure out how to glue tires that safely use lipo
we have people who can't figure out how to set a slipper clutch that safely use lipo
just get them, and don't store them on top of a pile of oily rags and you should be fine

I still use nimh in some cars. I use lipos in others.
All the hype about the dangers of lipo is, IMO, mostly internet scare tactic bs. Sure, a lipo can cause a house to burn down but so can the fork you eat dinner with. Use them as they are intended and you'll be fine. Besides, you use lipos everyday. Own a cell phone, laptop or anyother small electronic device? Yes? Then chances are real good that you are using lipo batterys.
On a related note...
All the battery powered hand tools like drills, saws, drivers, etc that are going to lipo seem to me to work less well than their old nimh counterparts. I've used several different brands now and the lipos all seem to have less power and less run time than the older nimh batterys. Yes, they are smaller and lighter but untill I see some improvement in how they work and last, I'm sticking with nimh in my hand tools. Which works well anyway because now, nimh has dropped in cost :-)

yeah well im getting lipo for the main reason about runtime. i will like having that speed, but my main concern is runtime with a 2s 4000mah 30c battery. how long do you think i would get off of that?

Lipos are fine. Most chargers are very good with not over charging. I have been running lipos for 3 years now and have not had one problem.

No. You're not.
I use NiCad...although I purchased a NiMH not too long ago, for my Goldberg Electra, with a Speed 550.
I run all glow, with the exception of the above mentioned Electra, which is grandfathered into my collection. So, I need not keep current, or even remotely close, as far as battery technologies goes.

ThunderbirdJunkie still has a NiCd pack rattling around in his Futaba 3PM, and still has NiMh receiver packs in his nitro cars. Eventually he'll get around to swapping those out, but the 3PM is likely to stay with the NiCd pack and a nice, shiny new FM modulated, LiPo powered 3PK should find its way in ThunderbirdJunkie's possession before too terribly long.

My Slash 4X4 runs only LiPo, as all MY stuff is Dean's connectors so i have intentionally left me no other options haha Actually just got a new charger and LiPos from HK today!
My fiancee's Blitz still runs NiMh and Traxxas connectors on all 7 of her packs and 5 chargers (damn girls kinda spoiled), and even with her truck running MMP ESC and Velineon 3500 motor it works very well.
LiPo is nothing to fear however, just dont stab it and you should be fine!

I still have a pair of GP3300s in my E-zilla
One day I'll tear it apart and frankenstein some E-Maxx and Savage parts in it to make the sucker brushless/li-po, but I have other priorities at the moment. Like geting my nitro cars running again

Yes i use nothing but Lipos. Just about all my expensive NIMH's didnt bounce back after the second winter being off and for the price of some of these packs i couldnt see myself getting ripped anymore. Now i only buy the cheapest Lipos i could find. I think unless your racing maybe, then they're all the same.
Havent had one problem with these cheap Lipos in the 4 years ive been using them. With some of them having over 75 cycles through them.
I really think the expensive Lipo batteries, like the expensive HDMI cables, are the biggest scam going on.<br type="_moz" />
