It's a good diff, strong and smooth.
The following models have rock solid diffs also
Jammin X1 CRT (potentially the cheapest and arguably the strongest)
CEN Matrix Arena/Genesis (well known upgrade for savage monster trucks, strong diff)
Mugen MBX5/MBX6 (Mugen make some of the best stuff in the hobby but will be a bit more expensive)
Truth is, most of the 1/8th buggy diffs are pretty solid, but since you're running a mini moto engine, perhaps you could consider something a bit bigger? Like a simple FG diff from their 1/5th scale?
To give you an idea what's available at the top end... http://www.bigboystoysandhobbies.com...etail/985/6427
But you can get less complicated diffs for a lot less than that...

Thanks for the quick response.
do you know if the diff case is metal or plastic on the rc8 diff and what are they likely to fail on?

The cases are plastic, but very hard, the most likely point of failure is the small planetary gears or the 'sun' gears. They will snap in half if placed under enough stress.
HEre's a reasonably priced 1/5th scale simple diff. http://rc-car-online-shop.de/shop/en...-complete.html
