Gears....
#1
So I stripped a spur gear on my Exceed Forza. It's a two-speed transmission, and thus am wanting to ensure I replace it with the exact part. Exceed (which is lacking in documentation) does not have an exploded view down to this level (they just show center diff complete). Additionally, on their site they have a 47t spur gear, and a42t 'throttle' gear.I've not taken apart the middle diff, so amunsure which part to get? Should I be safe and purchase one of each (assuming there is one of each on there)...or just by the entire unit?
p.s. I would have posted this on the Exceed site, but:a) this is a generic two-speed tranmission question, and b) no one everresponds on theExceed forum. ;-)
Here is the link to the parts. http://www.exceedrc.com/sparepart51c812.html

keep it stock. i tried to do a slipper mod that backfired on me. JUST KEEP IT STOCK. if you need more power just get a bigger engine power, OR tip the can.

I have never heard of a 'throttle gear'... but first gear is always the biggest, second gear is the next size down. Looks like you burned up first gear. Also looks like you're missing some screws, this could be the reason for the burned up spur gear if you were running it like that. Those are some pretty cheap parts. If you don't feel like pulling the two speed apart, you could just buy the entire center unit.
Is it at all possible that you did not adjust gear mesh right? The best way to do it is squish a piece of receipt paper between the pinion and spur (first gear only for a two speed), tighten the motor down, then pull the paper out. This usually leaves you with a perfect mesh.

I think I will just get the entire unityou are correct the price is low (in comparison). The gear mesh was actually fine. However, as you noted the housing was missing some screws (lesson learned on my part for not checking it) and can only assume it jacked the mesh causing the stripped gear.
