My first post ever on a RC forum so Im hoping for some help, I recently got my hands on aFREE dusty jug 2 and a old 2wd rs4, i dont know much about either of these cars as im only 22yrs old, ive owned mulitple rc cars ALL of which have been traxxas and I currently have a vxl 2wd slash. What Im asking is what do I need to get these dinosaurs going again? love my brushless slash but im also into anything classic! The jug appears to be missing the ESC and reciever? the rs4 appears to be all there? (speed gems motor on jug body) need a little help im used to RTRs, check out the pics please

I could probably be of some help as I recently built a jugg2 out of spare parts and parts lots bought on e-bay. So, I know that truck blindfolded.

My Jugg2

From what I can tell through all of that dust is
1. Can't tell what the motors are unless I see a better picture of them once they've been cleaned. However I see that the motors are wired in series, which is usually used to extend run times.
2.The tires are originals which is good if they are in good condition(without cracks or holes/tears). Original Juggernaut/jugg2 tires tend to be rather expensive. If you need wheel nuts, it uses standard 4mm wheel nuts that most 1/10 scales use.
3.It has the stock non-dampened shocks, so it will ride very rough and bouncy. Juggernauts generally ride rough because of their leaf and coils springs. Tamiya made gold aluminum oil filled shocks for it(which were also used on the tlt-1), however they have become rare because the are popular to put on scale trucks. If you can't find any, standard 4" monster truck shocks can be fitted with very little modifications(just stand-offs so the shocks don't hit the chassis). Also removing the coil springs from the shocks will soften up the suspension.
You can see the Tamiya gold shocks on the chassis of my jugg2

You have the steering servo and motors, so it looks like you'll just need a receiver and esc.
What motors are in it? Need to know how many turns they are to know how much the esc needs to be rated for.
Edit: Also, I don't see the jugg's wheel hubs in the pics. Each wheel should have a brass splined hub and a black plastic one like shown below. If you don't have them, they are still in production on Tamiya's super clod buster, so they aren't hard to get.

So I put the Novak super roost esc from the rs4 on the jugg, took the reciever off my villian ex boat and woolaa it works! I need new tires though, the stock ones are completly rotten out and have holes, what would work? or where could i get oem replacements?
Also how many cells can that Novak super roost handle? and could I wire the motors in parallel for higher speed?

There are two viable options for tires.
1.The Super Clod will be re-released this year, so stock tires for the clod will become more available and at lower prices.
2. RC4wd has some reasonably priced clod tires.

The super rooster will handle 6-10 cells nicad or nimh. How many turns are the motors in it?

Please keep in mind that the Juggernaut 2 is easy to roll if you aren't careful with it, especially at higher speeds. As heavy as it is, a couple of rolls will destroy the stock hard plastic body. That said, I recommend a lexan body for bashing.

Caliber speedworks is a Trinity brand motor. Trinity brushed motors are generally made by epic, a good motor manufacturer. They come in 16, 14, 12, or 10 turns. I'm not sure how well the super rooster will handle them in parallel if they are 12 or 10 turns. The specs claim "no limit" for turn limit on the super rooster. That said, if you go with a parallel setup, check the temperature of the motors and esc often the first few times you run it. If you have no problem with overheating the first couple of runs, you should be good to go.
