I get a gallon of fun for $30 after tax byrons race at that!

a gallon lasts me half a year, so $60 a year isn't to bad.

1) You've never seen a 6 cell buggy in a real race, they aren't allowed.
2) 6 cell buggies have even more power to weight. How could you not realise this? The weight is coming from cells, the things that actually power the car? Furthermore, electrics have lower CG and corner faster than nitros.
3) There is no electric sanctioned 1/8th racing in Greece. But I;ve been on the track with my 6S truggy and other nitros, my car is a lot faster. I can screw up every corner and still catch the nitros before the next corner. It even prompts people to make comments like ''wow, they're not letting you run that with us tomorrow are they?'' and stuff like that.
4) And lastly ''More power never equals a faster race car on the track''. Wait, WHAT?

This is getting silly. The things people are coming up with because they don't want to simply admit a straightforward fact. Boggles the mind. I'm outta here.
1) YES I HAVE. Not a ROAR approved race, but I have been to REAL races where they are allowed. There are other sanctioned race bodies, and local and state level racing where it is allowed.
2) Power to weight =/= better handling car. Does this mean the Bugatti Veyron beats a Mazda Miata on the autoX course by a degree relative to it's power to weight ratio?
3) You don't race.... sooooooooooooooo.
4) Sorry I didn't mean never, but I meant, more power doesn't always = higher lap times. Take a Miata and put it on certain road courses it will beat cars of higher power levels and power/weight ratios.

No need to turn this into a you're lying debate, some people at my local track and some of the bigger events did indeed run 6 cell to try and keep temps down/efficiency up.

I'm not turning it into anything, relax. I've seen those 'local' races too. Hardly representative, in most cases.

1) If a guy driving a 6s trug can't beat the nitros, he's awful.
2) huh? I suppose you say a go-kart is faster than a ferrari because round a go-kart track it would be? What? The Veyron is faster and more powerful than the miata, nothing more to be said.

a machine is only as good as the operator.

Many times its the same operator running in the different classes.........many of our racers run both nitro and electric........ so it gives a great opportunity to compare the laptimes of the two different powerplants...And as a general rule nitro is the fastest machine on the track............I know you can not make a BL truggy match the Speed of my OS 25 Truggy without the BL going thermal ...in a short run it can be geared to be faster, but it cannot sustain that load without overheating.............I do have a radar gun that use, so I am not talking out my rectum, I also have a seasons worth of track data, even hosted the Canadian Nationals at my track........I actually like BL as its been great for business, they are less reliable then nitro and are thermalling motors and Speed controls quite often..........Also the hotter the climate the more issues the BL has, at the nitro challenge there was more no starts in the BL class by double then there were in nitro.............Its interesting, but all these facts are easilly checked and verified as all the results are posted......check the results from any of the big races and you will see the same trend..........

for reference my OS 25 truggy has a top speed of 55 MPH, and effortlessly pulls this gearing on the track..... I can run for 45 minutes straight without any thermal issues.........

I would like to know what brushless systems are going thermal on 4s. Albiet all things will have failures from time to time, but you always say the brushless sytems are going thermal where you race, but you dont hear about these problems from anyone else? Just wondering what systems are failing from sustained hard running on 4s? If thats the case, christ they wouldn't last one lap on 6s!

you should keep quiet unless you actually race son !

Watch the big races, look at the stats...BL has more NS then the nitro classes by a fair margin..

All systems fail...and if you guys took your BL truggies to the track against one of my 25's you would get pulled, and if you gear enough to pull me you will go thermal............

get off the internet and actually go race........... look at the results from any of the big US races....BL is second fiddle to nitro on 90% of tracks.................. On my track nitro pulls the fastest laps.............. end of story...... theory means jack **** when the real world results don't back it up...........

thats the issue here, all of you are internet cowboys with little real world experience.....

checlk results from nitro challenge, Silverstate, PNB....you will see in every event the fastest laps are by the nitros...and the top pros usually run both nitro and electric classes............

ANd dont start saying these guys have no driving skill or talent...these guys are far beyind what any of you here are..years more experienced with years of track experience....they would literally make you guys looks stupid if you tried to race against them..........

today, right now, 90% of races are dominated by nitro...BL is not tunring faster laps, and BL is having more reliability issues........... yoiu can just check the race results to se this...... you will see less cars finishing the races in BL then you do with nitro.........

SO in the end you BL can suckit, as your internet theory is not adding up to real world track results

Bring your 6S truggy to the track and get owned by a nitro, as thats exactly what is going to happen...the nitro is much lighter and handles much better......

In the end all I see is a bunch of internet BS about how electric dominates in racing, some of you guys make it sound like nitro has no business being on a track.............

However in the end we are not seeing this on the race tracks........ electric 1/8th is not dominating on the track... they are not pulling any faster lap times, and in fact on average are showing slower overall laptimes..... And not only are they usually showing slower lap times they are also showing more non starts and DNF's then the comparable nitro classes............... If BL was as superior on the track as you internet cowboys are saying , then the real world results on the tracks would reflect this as well...but its not, not even close...out on the tracks the laptimes are nearly identical....and in fact on a overall average the results show the nitros have the advantage for the fastest laps............

Just to be clear here, I own a hobby store, and a top notch race facility , in 2011 we hosted the RC Pro Canadian Nationals.....locally I sell more brushless gear then I do nitro gear.....I make money on both nitro and electric, and have a healthy turnout of both platforms at my track..........Right now nitro show zero disadvantage in terms of reliability and lap times, and in fact nitro shows to be more reliable with faster laps ( this is taken off actual race results, )

and here is the results from open class, nitro vs electric.......... definitely not the BL domination the fanboys on this forum would have you believe it is...... Yes I sell nitro, yes I prefer nitro....but when you guys start flapping how nitro has no place on a track next to electric it kinda pisses me off, especially when its the nitros usually showing the best track performance.....I am not being a fanboy, just saying what the reality is when you actually do go to the races.........

and here is the track for this race.... its definitely not a nitro favoured track ( Nitro favors wide open layouts ) .... Yet even with a electric friendly layout the nitros still manage to pull the fastest laps

a couple points. #1 a 6s 3700mah on a 1500ish kv motor is similar to a 2200kv on 4s but will outlast a tank of nitro. #2 a gallon of nitro is around $35 you can get 1 lipo (gens ace or HK) for that price and get (if lucky) 300 runs off it
I get a gallon of fun for $30 after tax byrons race at that!

a gallon lasts me half a year, so $60 a year isn't to bad.

then a 300 cycle lipo would last you well into your next life
ha! no, I just know how to make fuel last, both engines i have are efficient and i can tune them very well, not only that but being smart on the throttle saves TONS of fuel, its just like driving a real car.

I also alternate fuel sources, some days I run my nitro buggy/truck some days i run my BL on-road.

I hear you man, Im 40 now started playing with this stuff around 10yrs old in London with nimh, Went to nitro for speed as I grew and turned to gas for more speed then went to brushless. I have 4 1/8 running MMM with a variety of Neu and castle motors. 2 1/5th 28cc bergonzoni onroards a compagnucci gas onroad and a kyosho rally nitro. A few tc4 1/10th for fun. Ordered a tamiya porsche too this week just because it was shiney on ebay. I just burn the amps, gas or nitro until I get a blister on my throttle finger

a machine is only as good as the operator.

Son? oookay senile old man, was a simple question. forget it, another useless rcu thread .

BL gets spongy 3/4- full speed, where as nitro LOVES the area, so if the course is small and technical, the BL will have the advantage, however in a longer track the nitro will be right at home where the BL gets a little floppy. this is if the cars are matched in all other aspects.... in my opinion and experience.

get off the internet and actually go race........... look at the results from any of the big US races....BL is second fiddle to nitro on 90% of tracks..................

First of all don't forget who you're speaking to. And I don't mean that as a mod. The amount of leeway I've given you over the years, I deserve more respect than that from you.

And before I take it personally that you put words in my mouth, I'm well aware that lap times of nitros are faster. I haven't said anything you've accused me of above.

I've never been saying that electric should displace nitro on a track, I've never said that a 4S electric is in any way faster than a top nitro.

But if you're saying that a 6S brushless car isn't faster than any nitro, PERIOD, then you're in some kind of major denial. Don't tell me on a track, don't tell me under certain circumstances, don't tell me when the moon is green and the water is pink, cos THE REST OF THE TIME, in the REAL WORLD, brushless is a good deal faster than nitro at the top level. There is no argument to this, it's the only fact I've been trying to get across since early on the first page of this unending and soul-destroying topic.

and here is the results from open class, nitro vs electric.......... definitely not the BL domination the fanboys on this forum would have you believe it is......

Half a second per lap? This is your evidence? After people have been setting up nitro buggies for 20 years plus, they can only pull half a second a lap on the relatively new electrics on a 45 second track?? This is your data showing that nitro is faster?

Even if you take the two best laps...(removing anomalies, that 37 and the 40 second laps, must have been due to marshalling) the difference between the best laps is still barely a second. So, in the best case scenario, electric is at worst 2% slower.

Add to that that the nitros run longer and have more chances to get a better single lap and you can all but remove the difference. Give the electrics a couple more years of learning setups and they'll be equal or faster.

Looks to me like the difference on track is negligible, no?

and please also remind me where anyone has said nitro has no place on a track? Or anything even remotely like that?

remember dude, you have never in your life seen a nitro that is as fast as the ones I run.... they do not even exist in Greece.........My engines are on a whole different level then what you see at your local track............ I eat the BL setups at my track, always down the straight the nitros take down the BL............ when the BL decided they dont like that and try to gear up to compensate, they end up going thermal..................right now in offroad 1/8 racing BL is second fiddle to nitro ! If you ever travel to North America in any region close to me I will come teach you what nitro is all about....As I promise you its a whole different world then what you see over there in Greece.............

In the end BL Is capabl of going faster in a straight line....but it does not handle better and it definitely is not faster on the track.... BL isn't all that IMHO......And I do get great enjoyment out of gunning down the BL trucks that come to my track to run...the first time they go against one of mine that smug look on their face vanishes to be replaced by the look of disbelief that their prized BL just got owned down the straight by a measly nitro !! thats priceless and exactly what would happen to you as well if you ever came to a track against one of mine.........

Brushless vs Clocked Nitro ! eat dusty flashlight boy ! FYI this is a 2200 Castle on 5S in a 6T vs a measly clocked Go 7 port , one of my mildest engines

FYI this is one of my best buddies with the 5S truggy, we run together all the time..... he now has a 1660 on 6S in the same truck...got tired of the 2200 always going thermal...........
