well yes, but thing is a lot of the ppl asking for NiMh also want to run powerful brusheless systems that would destroy the battery, and potentially be a safety risk. In those cases saying go lipo is fully warranted.
But agree for someone that has some light brushed tamiya vehicle for their 5-12yo lipo IMO is not recommended, and I won't say to use it.
I also recommend brushed vehicles for that age group too unless they show responsibility, cause my 12yo nephew is very irresponsible, and would probably hurt someone with a bruhless monstrosity as he cant stop hitting things with a brushed motor.

when i buy a rc car from ebay that the owner says had been used once. but when it turns up he forgot to say it was only used once in a war zone.
