Default Mods on a redcat

Okay so here it goes, I have a redcat twister XTG that has a bad motor in it. I have a VXL-3 combo just sitting here & Was wondering if there is a way to mod my Twister XTG to fit the VXL-3 ESC & motor or if it will even fit in the first place any help would be nice.

Thanks clay.<br type="_moz" />

The motor will bolt right in.
The stock pinion gear however will not fit on the vxl motor. Stock motor has a 5mm shaft, vxl motor has a 3mm shaft.
Other than needing a new pinion gear, its an easy install.

How old is your stock motor? It may still be under warrenty. Even if its past the 90day warrenty, redcat also has a replacement program that could get you a stock motor at less than retail cost.

Well I took this VXL-3 Motor and Esc off a Rustler VXL that a buddie of mine smashed and was gonna throw away. They both work prefect as i put them on a ECX Torment. I wanna put both the ESC and VXL-3 motor on the Twister XTG. I Have the pinion Gear for the motor but, what gearing would you think i should run with?
As i will do using 2s 20c 5000 mah batteries.

&amp; I Bought the Twister XTG Pro edition back in January around the 15 - 20th.

If the model is less than 90 days old, fill out a warrenty form on redcat's site. You should get a replacement.

The stock motor is 3900kv. The vxl motor is 3500kv. So you will want to add 2-3 teeth on the pinion gear. I forget how many teeth the stock gear has, so count them and then buy a gear that will fit the vxl motor that is 2-3 teeth bigger. That will compensate for the lower KV of the vxl motor.

I cant recall what pitch the spur gear on the twister is.
if the pinion gear for the rustler rolls smoothly on the twister's spur then they are both 48 pitch.
whats the tooth count on your rustler pinion and on the stock twister pinion?

Ok,
so buy a 25t and 28t rustler pinion. I think a 25t should compensate for the lower kv of the vxl motor, but just in case grab the 28t as well.

yes. as long as the traxxas pinion you have rolls smoothly with the stock spur, then they are both 48 pitch and will work together. I think its a 48p but its been awhile since I had a twister and cant remember for sure.
