Default 5SC steering problem

HPI Baja 5SC

I noticed using my radio to turn the steering - while sitting on the ground it turns full to the left and only partially to the right, also while in motion. (I usd adjustments on the radio to center steering). If I pick the front end up off the ground it turns full both ways left and right. I disconnected the linkage, everything turns smooth (no binding). Could it be a bad servo?

What's you thoughts?

Because the servo is not powerful enough to actually turn the wheels at a stand still. Like we said, get other servos.

You didn't mention a budget. Big bucks. But you have a big vehicle. So go large.

lol, I don't mind spending a little money, but not to the extreme. I did find a Savox-0235MG. How does this compare to the HD-9150MG?

Any metal geared high torque servo will be fine for the Baja.

Are u sure about that??? I think that's a 1/10 servo where the steering uses a 1/5 servo
The stock HPI servo is 25kg/cm where that is only 16kg/cm

personally I think he would be best using one of those 40kg/cm servos that come in the baja clones...

Ive personally used one in a Losi 5ive and the Losi considerably heavier with 4x4 so the steering is a lot heavier.

here is a video I made to prove it works

I bought the Savox SV-0235MG High Voltage 5th Scale Digital Steering Servo. Also a Hitec HS-5645MG Digital Throttle Servo w/ Metal Gears .

Why did Hitec feel the need to bring out their 1208oz servo? Because for hard bashing and racing, nothing else worked. Dual servo setups worked, but were about as expensive and more complicated.
