It looks nice, but I am not liking this very much. I know it is just one thing, but if one thing on a used RC car is bad, you can kind of expect the rest of the car to be a hackjob too....
Either way, it looks nice. I'd say a good 2S LiPO would be a good choice for now and a 3S LiPO later, once you can handle the power.

I have my heart set on a rustler now. My dad and uncles have 2wd slashs and complain when I talk about wanting a rustler, or anything besides a slash actually, and 4x4. I want 4wd that much I know, idc what they say. And after watching all kinds of videos and stuff the rustler seems to have the potential to be faster, as they just drive back and forth racing. And after a few upgrades the bashablility seems pretty great on the rustler. I would love a revo but I want to keep it under $300 until I have the cash to blow lol. The one I posted looks to have quite a few aluminum parts already so that will save me on upgrading those. But what is up with the wheel. Seems to me that he lost the nuts/bolt and ghetto rigged it a little. But I think if i go to my local rc shop I can get them and replace the nutes/bolts.

I was reading on a Traxxas forum that Integy isnt that great. Maybe that is why he rigged it like he did. So I am back on the hunt. But still sticking with a 4x4 brushless rustler.

Well, some Integy is good, like bling, bumpers, and some other stuff. And yes, that is bad. He used a standard woodworking nail as a pin and its even undersized. Check the "EVERY THING RC" group on Facebook or the "Traxxas Rustler" Facebook group. If you are patient, you can get a great deal. Just make you order from someone who has sold something before. Getting scammed is no fun.

I say get what you like.
The Rustler ain't a bad car. Can be made better with aftermarket parts. Yeah, the owner cheaped-out using a nail
so his maintenance ethic may be suspect.
Two-wheel drive will certainly make you a better driver. Teaches you throttle control. All top-level racing is 2wd. It's because it's harder to drive a rwd car fast than it is to drive a 4wd car/truck. You can be pretty ham-fisted with a 4wd and still pull it thru the turn. Do the same thing with the 2wd and you'll spin it out every time if you drive it like the 4wd. That said, I'll tell you this: My buddy and I learned on Evaders (essentially Rustlers) and got pretty good at driving them fast around our track. But inevitably one of us would make a mistake and spin out. Getting back into the race takes patience to get back up to speed cuz you just can't hammer the throttle, you'll spin again. So by the time I was up to speed again, he was a half a lap ahead of me. Since we got 4wd cars, our lap-after-lap of door-to-door racing has never been better, because they don't spin out as easily, and if you do screw up enough to spin out, your recovery time is almost immediate, and you're back in the game. Made it much more fun for us.

I like the first one a little better. He said he put bearings in, nice wheelie bar. It does need tires and body.
the other one (all black) is an older model either an xl5 or possibly an xl1, you dont know what kind of gears are in the transmission plastic or metal. That body does not fit right. Bad vibe like the nail repair.

This receiver seems pretty neat. Tons of options.

I think I really like this one. The mamba max is a great motor if I have read right on other sites.

That is all that there are for now. It seems they multiplied after I decided it is what I want lol. I am not too worried about a transmitter and receiver or battery and charger as I plan on buying those. 1 2s Lipo and 1 3s Lipo and a charger for both kinds of batteries.

That GT3B FlySky radio set is great. Should last you a long time. It is a bit "fancy" for a new guy, but you'll have fun figuring out all the adjustments.
Alternatively you could get the FlySky GT2. Only $20, does the same thing, just no screen, no numerous adjustments or multi-car memory. You can bind more than one car to the GT2, just so ya know.
A couple examples of chargers:
Venom Pro Charger 3 7Amp RC LiPO and NiMH Battery Balance AC/DC Powere | Atomik RC
Thunder AC680 Professional Dual-Power LiPo Balance Charger Discharger w AC Adapter for 1-6 Lipo 1-15 Nimh + USB to PC Software
I have the Thunder AC680. Does 6Amps at 80Watts. The Venom does 7Amps at 100W.
How do you know what to charge your battery at? If you have a 3600mah Lipo, you'd set up the charger for LIPO (don't set it for NiMh or NiCd, you'll have a fire!) and set the charge rate for 3.6Amps. If you had a 5000mah pack, you'd set it for 5Amps. See how that works? Never leave your Lipo fully charged unless you're going to use it within a 12hr period. Doing so will shorten its useful life and its capacity. Always use the Storage Charge feature of your charger. This charges or discharges your pack to ~3.80V (like the way it came shipped). This is the battery's "resting voltage" or quiescent point, where the chemistry "likes to be". Storage charging at the end of your day will keep the batteries healthy for a longer useful life. Gens Ace and SMC Lipos are the ones I use. Good prices, good packs. Gens you have to install your own connector, but the SMCs you can get with either Traxxas or Deans connectors installed for you.

I will probably go with the GT2 then. Try to keep the cost down. How do you guys feel about the rustler with the mamba motor. I don't seem to see any significant damage and i saw the video of it running good. And it is lowered to keep it from flipping everywhere. Also what is a good cheaper charger and 2s and 3s battery

I posted a link in my previous post for two good chargers. As for batteries, I take it that the Rustler has Traxxas connectors on it? You can order 2S and 3S lipos from SMC that have Traxxas connectors already installed. (IMHO, a Mamba Max Pro in a light 2wd Rustler on 3S would be completely mental. WAY over powered.) Stick with 2S for now.
