I have one gallon of 15% nitro fuel, I read that nitro fuel is hydroscopic and absorbs water from the air. So as I only have 15% I want to keep it from the smallest of water contamination. The simple answer is to get some 20% fuel but my LHS has run out and the supplier has a back order. I could buy some online from modelsport uk but they have recently annoyed me and so have lost my custom and so I would prefer buy from my LSH than any online store. Anyway the question I have is can I put the 15% nitro fuel in small 500ml plastic water bottles with plastic screw cap lids. I would try to make sure there is no fuel in the bottle but there could be a small amount. The reason I am asking this is because 1 gallon of this fuel will last for months and I don't want to buy more 15% nitro fuel as its gutless on my .18 engine. With the gallon bottle every time I use go out for a bash I will use about 300ml of fuel (75ml fuel tank) this exposes the rest of the gallon to air and moisture. The bottle will have have the same amount of air in to replace the amount of fuel out, this will make my already gutless fuel worse. So can I put the fuel in 500ml plastic screw cap water bottles? Ps I have collected 10, 500ml bottles and cleaned them and dried them out.

Well i am car mecanic by trade. Not rc cars the one's you drive lol been to rc snice i was little kid do you live a damber area in country i never had that problem at i never tired it but buy some gas dryer. At auto parts store and just and eyedroper if it in your nitro fuel some might so no but remember its oil based product and run higher than 15 percent more actane in your rc fuel. And you know the same fuel we running in rc they run in strip dragster its the same stuff now in tgen i run some of it in my street rod for more power but be very careful as you could damage you rc motor and opening the bottle really it not going to hurt much . Run a higher blend but again you well have to adjust your motor pur fuel. And there's. A company on Ebay thats sells it better price than your local hobby shop they even sell fuel for dragster goodluck Redjet78

Ok first of all opening the bottle just to refill the filler bottle will be just as bad as trying to refilll a whole bunch of empty bottles and second you instantly contaminate the fuel the moment you first open the bottle.Theres nothing you can do about it. But its not as bad as you think. As long as you store the gallon away from sunlight and in a dry area youll maximize the life of your fuel. But even with proper storage moisture will find its way into the bottle in the molecular level but the amount is neglible
I personally keep my fuel in the boiler room as there is zero sunlight and becuase of the gas burners moisture is non existent. I recommend if possible to get multiple smaller bottle of fuel and keep them stored. And use one at a time If you dont manage to use a gallon of fuel or more a year. Now if you are a rc addict and use a gallon or more a year then just buy it by the gallon the short amount of time the fuel is exposed to the elements wouldnt matter since youll be using up the fuel soon.
Here is a picture of improperly stored fuel. I bought it last year opened once and left it on my porch since then. oh and it used to be blue..

When storing fuel keep it out of sunlight and in a place that remains at a constant temperature......the fuel is hygroscopic. Always give the container a good shake before opening and after decanting what you need then squeeze as much air out of the container as possible before refitting lid....presuming plastic container. How did MS annoy you? I have used them many times and would recommend them highly.
