9 times out of 10 - this is caused by the ISS(idle set scew) not being adjusted properly.

u can check to see if this is the proble, by removing the air filter, and applying the brakes. the carb should stay open about 1mm. if it is closing tighter than that, then this is your problem. while keeping the brakes applied, adjust the ISS until the carb remains open at braking.

if that isnt the case - another thing is the possibility that ur clutch is worn. at idle, look down at the clutchbell, is it moving at all, or does the truck want to roll forward at idle without the brakes on? the stalling can be caused by the clutch trying to engage while the brakes are applied, essentially the same as stopping the engine by pushing on the flywheel.

Great - that will be four dollars please.

explain more please - not quite understanding. feels like something is holding it back? too rich low speed needle valve?

i have that sam problem, if i try to ease on the gas it bogs down. what should i do with the low speed needle? also after i let off the gas the rpms slowly rise then fall then if i dont give it some gas, it stalls. ive tried adjusting my idle but either the rpms are too high that the wheels turn or the idle is too low that it shuts off. maybe if i get the low speed needle adjusted in synch withe the idle it will work. what do you think?

mavericman - ur explaination is a classic example of the entire engine being to lean.

did i mention that there is a lot of smoke? and wouldnt being lean allow me to accelerate faster?

1. this could be caused by either over rich or over lean settings. over rich will cause a gurgling sound. over lean will cause a hiccip sound.

2. This is ALWAYS caused by an over lean needle setting.

3. This is also caused by an over lean setting, the engine is stalling when u arnt giving it gas, because it is starving for fuel

today i ran the car on my driveway with the air filter off and it was awesome! good punch and top speed. then i put it back on and it felt crappy again. it bogs withe the filter on so i tried to lean the low speed mixture and it dies how should i go about doing the high speed mix. first? find top speed or what?

clean the filter or replace NEVER run a nitro car without a filter

well, i had to have it off to tune the carb, maybe if i lean both needles a little more then it will compensate for the less airflow and work right.

Clean and reoil it

here are links to traxxas info to tune your ruslter IF you still have the traxxas engine on it

trx 2.5 >> http://www.traxxas.com/support/troub...buretorpro.htm

pro .15 >> http://www.traxxas.com/support/howto...buratorpro.htm

I know that traxxas says use their fuel (top fuel) but i like trinity monster power 20% i ran out and my
LHS doesnt stock trinity fuels so i got some top fuel and my rustler hasnt been the same since big
difference in lost performance

only reason i dislike o'donnel is its totaly clear hard to see in the darker fuel lines

ok, the car is running a lot better now! my only problems are the car bogs at the low end. when i open it up its pretty fast but there is still a noticable amount of smoke. and i did the spit test on top of the heat sink and the spit just sat there. i dont wanna over-lean the engine, it seems like i have it pretty lean already. as long as i have it under 270 degrees will it be fine? i only have the high speed open 2 1/4 turns. should i lean the low speed or should i get the high speed right firsT?

i dont know how it happend, but my(rubber) exhaust coupler split right at the bend. it started making a gurgling noise, so i stopped and found it. i just got a bunch of b-day money and i am thinking about getting the MIP 360 tuned pipe kit for it. will it work on another engine in my car? i am starting to catch on to tuning the trx.15

the stinger will increase low end but wont help much on the top end
i am thinging of using this pipe and header for my rustler MIP 3042 its for an on road car BUT from what me and the guys at my LHS see it looks like it will clear the ez start system and do away with the 3 inch long piece of rubber hose i have gone through a few of those myself and i am getting tired of it LOL

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXAX70&P=7 looks like the one i saw at the LHS but its black LHS price was about $9-10 cheaper
