Well let everyone know when your finished by uploading some photos of your completed project. If you purchase the robotic cats and dogs, perhaps, it could be a family affair.

You could use AI - the most channels I have seen on a radio is 9 channels.

when i wanted to build a robot for Battlebots, i did some research and there was this company where they had radios and recivers that could control like 48 servos, it was pretty amazing, but if you think lil further you could set that one radio can do more then one thing, let me tell you, it going to be very hard if you gonna start from scratch, but if you have the time and a big pocket (no wait....you need a BIG pocket with lots of bling) and the brain, then why not, by the way that radio cost like $1500 and money was the problem that i didn't finish my battlebot. Good luck bro.

dr. what did you want on ur bot? all you need is a 4 or 6 channel ground...and it wouldnt be hard startin from scratch ive already got it designed... it gonna be 3 feet tall and the pic is just the basic design...it wolnt have all the curves more of a box shape... alos the only thhing holdin me back is the tracks and controller...and moeny of course...im gonna get the deminsions figured the add servos and such as money comes...i think im gonna go with oopic...just need to find some one who understands it better than me...or a book... to explain how it works....and i need to learn c... the code its writtin in. i should have the body done by the end of the month and then ill post pics. i might make it semi anotamous so i can control it when i want too...just not the arms.

and the most expensize part of a battle bot is the esc...theres a awesome book on buildin them i think its called combat bots or somthin u should chek it out...or check out www.robotmarketplace.com

umm, yes it 'should' but you need every advantage that you can get. this means the most sophistocated radio control system. the type that most people use has two way comunication with the tx and rx. that way you can monitor the status of different systems and know if something is about to blow up and take your entire bot with it.

Making it remote conrtolled wouldn't be that hard. Buy a tank R/C from Wal Mart. Rip it apart for the electronics, wheels, & tracks. Build a chassis out of aluminum. Once those bugs are works out & you have the ca$h for a multi channel radio you can animate the arms & head with servos.

Once you get all that done, if you're feeling brave, make it an actual robot! There are all kinds of tutorials on the net that would tell you how they use those wires sticking out of it's chest as bump sensors. When you turn it on it would control itself. LEDs are super easy.

I actually helpled build SIr Killalot (the house robot in robot wars) and the claw was the claw that rescuers used to tear the metal of cars and safe the people inside. They're called the Jaws of Life. That would be a great but heavy addition to your robot. The radio they used for Sir Killalot was a Futbaba 9cp (i'm not sure that's what it's called exactly) and the servos were all heavy dutyhigh torque servos/ I understand that you don't want to build something of that size, so if you have any questions you can ask me. by the way SIR KILLALOT RULES![8D]

you dont need a 9 channel!!!!!!!!lord why would you? a 4 channel is good and a 6 isgood too....flipper bots are the best
or grapper bots...the ones with circular saws really dont do much...but one with a flipper that is really good can throw a bot out of the ring...its been done alot...or one with a claw on the front and low speed and high torque can easily grab one and push it into

"THE PIT" ive already figured out everytihng on my bot but its bein post poned ttill i learn c and java....right now im buildin a rover.

the disk would slowly tear him apart, one strike at a time. ive seen sirkillalot. he aint that fast. nightmare is very manuverable and he wouldnot be able to get to nightmare.

nightmare's disk is in the center and mounted verticaly. a disk is less likely to be caught up than a blade.

Why don't you ask them and maybe they'll let you compete with him. I'll be watching to see who is the winner. By the way, my robot is a decked out version of Sir Killalot, it grabs the robot from both sides like claws and then brings it towards the body which has a spinning saw. My bot can lift a max of 200 kg. And weighs 403kg.
