Default Ball diffs

Hi sorry for the cross posting but noone in the off road forum would/could answer my question can anyone help with the below post?

Hi I am verry new to the whole ball diff thing. all my past cars had planitary diffs. I had one tamyia chevy s10 but i tourqed down and locked the ball diff for rock crawling resones. I now am trying to get into racing and have had a blast with my new Evader ST. I ad no idea i had to readjust the diff after it broke it but cought it and adjusted it. About a week ago i tore apart my trainy to inspect it and also "stupid me" tore down the diff. the next time i drove the truck it sounded as though the sliper clutch was loos it just screemed and barly moved. I found out it was the diff. i tightend it but got the same thing. now i have it verry verry tight and it feels as though there is grit dirt or sand in it "that is how tight it is" i hear this is bad for them and now can not drive my cool truck do to the fear of breaking it. can somone help me with this problem? I have not been able to find a happy medium it is ether loos and sliping like hell or it is tight and sandy. thanks for all the help

Default ball diff

yes this was in the manual however it is verry lose now and feels sandy and the manual said sandy was not good I am just a bit confused as i said i new to the whole ball diff thing. i heard the diff sliping when i punched the throtle and right awayt stoped driving it and tore town the trainy to see what the problem was so the diff should be ok still i would think. unfortunatly sence i got my truck ARR everything was prebuilt and there is text on ajustment but nothing in tearing down the diff and no instruction to build it . anyway i will try that agan sence oi already tore it down a couple times should i clean it all off and put new grease in it and what not just to make sure there is not dirt or anng like that?

Default ball diff

Thanks a bunch yes to me this is verry confusing. I fliped the rings around and ran the truck just as told with the diff snug and 1/8 a turn out is sliped a ton it seems to work great with it snuged ALL THE WAY DOWN" but not as buttery smooth as i read it should. Makes me worry a lot as with a move and babby on the way i cant just go out and replace it and i am losing a ton of track time with the worry thjat i will blow the diff in my new truck if i already have not.

Default verry embarising but think its broke

after no success today and a couple of hours of tearing into my diff and cleaning and reasembeling and tearing down just to do it all over agan when it did not work i think i finaly found the problem and it is actualy quite embarising. the first time i tor it down right before the trouble started " i imagine" during reasembly one of the thrust balls came out of the thrus washer and when i tourqed it down the ball indented into a part of the thrust washer it should not have been in. i put it in its place and vuwalaaa it works a ton smother however it still dose not feel right and i think all this time of tearing down and testing and rebuilding most likly messed up the thrust washer for good POOP!!!!!!!! well i guess the best way to learn is to screw up he he hee " anyone got a thrust washer they dont need?"
