Default Newbie needs help

I recently aqcuired a 10yr.old Kyosho sandmaster 10 with an O.S.10 nitro engine.
It is brand new and had 1 tank of fuel run through it 10 yrs. ago and then put on a shelf,no scratches and no dirt.
My problem is this in my anxiousness to get it running I took it out of the box added 4 drops of after run oil, turned it over by hand 3 times to lubricate, let it sit for 15 minutes added fuel 20%mix lit the plug and fired it up.It purred like a kitten for about 1 minute, then in my brilliance i tried to adjust the carb and flooded it.When i tried to start again I pulled the recoil unit off, which is cumbersome at best,
The newer units have amuch better recoil assmbly. The recoil unit is now toast so i can not attempt to relive my youth or as I tell my 12yr.old bond with him.I can not get any help at my local hobbyshop and i need the advise of the almighty forum to get back up and running.I am willing to retro fit, change to bump start, whatever but i really cant find anyone to help so any ideas are well appreciated.
By the way is 20% okay for this vehicle its what we use in my sons maximum ST pro with a torq.16.
I also have an extra torq.12 tried to retro but it just wont fit without serious mods. and i am trying to stay as close to original as possible.

Thanks and God bless,
rooferrobbie

You can use a yank eliminator in lieu of the pull start mechanism. The starter shaft diameter for your os .10 is 6mm so the one in the link should work. You just need to make sure the rear tire won't be in the way.

You rock,is it normal for the local hobbyshop to not be very helpful or just a fluke due to what i bought.

It's a crap shoot as to whether or not you'll have a helpful local hobby shop. The fact that your vehicle wasn't too popular and it's been discontinued for some time doesn't help (yours being the first version and not even the MKII).
